In GNOME und KDE (und was ich auch von OS X höre) haben Sie ein Feature, das mehrere Desktops genannt wird. Sie können mehrere Bildschirme mit Apps ausführen, ohne die gleiche Anzahl von Bildschirmen verwenden zu müssen. Gibt es ein solches Programm für Vista?

Ich möchte ungefähr vier Desktops (einen für IM, einen für die Programmierung, einen für das Browsen / E-Mail und einen für andere Apps), und zu Hause habe ich normalerweise einen Monitor, wenn ich meinen Laptop außerhalb von zu Hause nutze, oder zwei, wenn ich bin zu Hause verwenden.

Das Hauptproblem, das ich bei der Software für virtuelle Desktops gefunden habe, ist, dass es gut funktioniert, aber Windows-Anwendungen sind nicht so geschrieben, dass sie es gut unterstützen. Eine Sache, die mir in den Sinn kommt, ist Visual Studio 2008, das sich weigert, mit etwas anderem als dem "Hauptmonitor" zu spielen, unabhängig davon, ob der zweite oder die folgenden Monitore echte oder virtuelle Monitore sind. Desktops allows you to organize your applications on up to four virtual desktops. Read email on one, browse the web on the second, and do work in your productivity software on the third, without the clutter of the windows you’re not using. After you configure hotkeys for switching desktops, you can create and switch desktops either by clicking on the tray icon to open a desktop preview and switching window, or by using the hotkeys.

I use the portable version of VirtuaWin. It's not flashy, but it is simple, customizable, and portable. There are tons of plug-ins for it.
