iPhoto lädt die Fotobibliothek sehr langsam

iPhoto auf meinem iMac lässt sich aufgrund einer sehr großen Master-Bibliothek (ca. 50.000 Fotos) nur sehr langsam laden.

Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, die Master-Bibliothek in zwei oder drei Teile zu unterteilen, sodass beim Laden nur ein Teil (mit den neuesten Fotos) geöffnet wird und die anderen Teile nur bei Bedarf geladen werden?

Auf meinem iMac werden OS X 10.6.1 und iPhoto '09 8.1.2 (424) ausgeführt.

Apple support has a support page on this: Create a new iPhoto library or switch between libraries.

It is currently for iPhoto 11 but I believe the same options apply.
