Es scheint, dass das Plugin, das nicht funktioniert, Flash ist.

  1. Gehe zu chrome://plugins
  2. Klicken Details
  3. Finden Adobe Flash Player
  4. Unter Type: PPAPIklickEnable

Wenn dies nicht funktioniert, aktualisieren Sie Chrome.

It sounds like a overheating problem. Load into your BIOS and monitor the temperatures.
Try starting Windows in Safe Mode w/ Networking and try the web site.
@Sun It works for me too but not for them. FF and IE didn't work and another computer didn't work either so it's probably a network filter of some sort.

You may already be able to do this if you configure the SSH Server to use the "dumb" terminal type using the bash shell. This can be configured in Advanced SSH Server settings: http://i.imgur.com/htJ0qU1.png The problem is that it's not enough to use the "bash" Shell access type in this case - you will most likely need to configure a custom shell access type that calls bash in a way such that it will render escape sequences to the standard output, instead of writing to the console. In other words, you need to run bash in the way MinTTY runs it. Using "dumb" terminal, the output is sent as-is.

Sorry but another routers were just laying around.. no particular reason. Just wanted to try something. all pcs have windows and PC3 also has kali installed(yes I am a newbie, forgive me). I thought of using ettercap in linux or cain & abel in windows. TP link and tenda routers.

Thanks. too much work. I am gonna skip the testing and just study the theories only.
Thanks! This worked like a charm for me when my browser just wasn't showing icons or space at all (not even the placeholders).
what about tab name
Boot into BIOS and then boot off of the USB stick. The boot manager doesn't appear until after the installation is complete.
It seems to be a solution! My solution is a kind of kiosk
what files do you have in /etc/dnf/protected.d and /etc/yum/protected.d directories (post its content in the question, please, if possible)?
thanks. that's very likely. I used to put the computer in my basement, where is much cooler. if that proves to be the case, will a cooler like Corsair H50 help?
Explain how to boot into BIOS
Probably. But first move your computer back down and **check what is overheating**. This is done very easily with a free program like [HWMonitor](http://cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html). It might be the GPU overheating too so make sure.
I'm really pleased to hear it, as I estimated that old firmware/faulty hardware possibility was ~80%/20%, but if second revealed true no positive estimation would do you any good, so I did not share that earlier. Now you know, sometimes MB manufacturer ships hardware with old firmware (or rather, MB are on storage long enough for firmware to become old and not compatible with newer memory type) and to get it working properly, you need to flash BIOS. You would expect that Dell would do that for you, but evidently that is not always the case. I'm really glad to hear positive feedback!
Try pressing `Del` or `F2`
A reboot of the remote machine fixed the issue.
@AaronMiller this is giving error though I am running CMD as Admin. "An unexpected error condition has occurred. Unable to perform operation. You may not have permission to perform this operation."
@JUICED_IT I read both of these articles. I already know how to run as administrator, as the first article discusses. The "Sudo for Windows" link was interesting and closer to what I was talking about- the goal would be to launch the process as the logged in user with administrator rights, not as a process under an account with admin rights, if you know what I mean
procdump had the same issue. It started listening for crashes and spikes using the command in above comments but VS kept crashing and it sensed nothing. No dumps.
Welcome to SuperUser, Quentin! Glad to have you. I'm afraid your suggestion (`Ctrl-Shft-n`) doesn't seem to work in my experimentation. At least, not reliably. For now I'll stick with my macro. Thanks anyways!
It seems to be a solution! My solution is a kind of kiosk as well with limited access. Actually, the only interface users have is a keyboard. Thats why it is so importante to disable navigator bar, short cuts and anything else that could allow a user to execute/access something we don't want to. I'll take a closer look on it :) Thanks @jcbermu
My problem is i couldn't disable fast boot mode.Even if i disable it,it fast boots. So i cannot press DEL or F2

Nice, but the question is not about Ubuntu. Hint: Next time look at the tags under the question.
As a workaround you can write a script to remove the network drive and then run it on startup automatically by either using Local Group Policy Editor, Task Scheduler, or moving it to your startup folder. I do the same thing only I add drives not remove them
Ok, I will wait until tomorrow to make sure that the RAM is the problem. Thank you :)
Afraid not. Sometimes the computer works for us, sometimes we work for it. Someone with skill in VBA could probably automate this; for the occasional need, it wouldn't be worth the time it'd take.
This doesn't actually answer the question, which is about using
I believe with Office 2016, this is a new feature where users can simultaneously edit. What version of the office suite are you using?

I used chrome to solve the issue, @Stav. When I received your question, I tried FireFox again, and it works now. Note that my FireFox was upgraded since then to *46.0.1*
You seem to be in Access Point mode, rather than Bridge mode. Your local WiFi subnet should be on a different subnet from the hotel's, and you should be using the router to log on.
@RodSmith Thanks. The setup is pretty basic, nothing fancy: GRUB2, UEFI, `Debian` vanilla kernels out of jessie-backports, not self compiled. Any idea for what I should specifically?
It is against googles terms and conditions. If I am implying to provide me a way to play google, that was not what I meant. Maybe there are some other ways to achieve this, which is what I am asking for.
NTFS permissions on the hard disk override share permissions. So you can grant all users access to the share, but then go to the folder in question on the machine and change the Security settings and Deny access to the appropriate groups (or simply uncheck Read and write access)
You say the cooler is definitely running and flowing. Do you mean the fans are working on the radiator too? Or can you just feel the slight vibration from the liquid?
Thanks, thats from asus´s site i have tried all of that. My cable for the cpu_fan header feels loose or wobbly but that shouldnt matter if its broken. The header isnt at all linked to the cpu temp sensor right?
In case 1, the data was received by the hardware after the device was opened for the second time.

why you dont write a function?
`function SendFdisk() { echo $@|sed 's/ /\\n/g' |fdisk /dev/sda ;}` Example usage : `SendFdisk n n 3 "" "" t 8e w`
You can try `rev` which reverse the line (delimiter is "\n"). So you can do it like this `cat file|rev|sort -k1,1 |rev`
I did as you guided >> ffmpeg.exe -i "hello1.mp4" -i "hello2.mp4" -filter_complex "[0:v]setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v0]; [0:a]asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[a0nodb]; [a0nodb]volume=5dB[a0]; [1:v]setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v1]; [1:a]asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[a1nodb]; [a1nodb]volume=5dB[a1]; [v0][a0][v1][a1]concat=n=2:v=1:a=1[nosubv]; [nosubv] subtitles=\\'hello.srt\\':force_style='FontName=Segui UI'[subv]; [subv] palettegen[pal]; [subv][pal]paletteuse" "hello.gif" -y -report --- but I get no result and have this in log file >>> [subv][pal]paletteuse matches no streams.
What about the time we have multiple inputs?
Has this to do with ffmpeg? I don’t think so. Or tell me please how to use it with ffmpeg.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I believe the problem was once I hit the block button when it asked for mic and there was literally no way for undoing it, except for your solution
I mean i feel some movement in the tubes, and the fans on the radiator are working fine.
It crashing at a higher frequency would explain why the chip got put in the speed bin it ended up in. Sounds like the silicon lottery to me.
I find I'm having the identical problem with 51.0.2704.63 in 2016, yes, I can manually update, but that doesn't explain why it checks and says the program is up to date when it isn't, nor why it refuses to do an update. Any additional thoughts?
For Windows 7, go to Control Panel\System and Security\System , click "Advanced System Settings" on the left, and click "Environment Variables." This shows you the PATH and JAVA_HOME variables. Other modern versions of Windows are similar.
Are you sure the CPU is overheating? The problem may just be that the fan is not being detected.
you can run any of these commands from the command line. any GUI you installed is a flavor of ffmpeg ( a wrapper around it).
This seems worse than using `nc -w1 -z host 22` in a shell loop, because it needs grep in addition to the shell. The purpose of my question was to get rid of the shell loop and to replace it with a simpler tool to wait for the port to become open in one line.
Much appreciated! Maybe this could be an idea for a Chrome extension ~
That'll tell you _something_ useful but may need a bit of additional googling, as you mention. On my system it reported two Samsung drives with model numbers, e.g., `SAMSUNG MZ7LN512HCHP-000L1`. Googling that brought up a page of results all of which had "SSD" or "Solid" in the title or snippet. Thus I'm fairly confident, using this method, that I have a dual-SSD system.
I have this same problem. I can even rename folders using the command prompt without administrative priveleges, but cannot rename any folder on any drive using explorer.
Same here. But it offers to use another drive, which I've done. But even though it has plenty of space, it's still stuck in the same loop. I don't think anyone from MS has actually tested this :-(
Which version of ffmpeg do you think has these command line options? I couldn’t find a help file explaining the options you listed.
Yes, mobo says 90c.
This is probably something you should use the expect program for. It is designed to send and receive input from interactive tools. `man expect`. Commented because it's not a real answer, yes, I know. You can use pauses in it and check for each line of output (prompt) that you want. Alternatively, there might be a way to use fdisk with more options to reduce the need for interactivity at all, but I don't know that for certain.
So, this is stupid... after 4 years, it was overheating to 90. So i reseat it and the cooler, still 90c. I reseat the same cooler AGAIN for sincerity. Now it took 20 mins instead of 2 to get to 90c. The hell ????
If you can rename from a command prompt, but not through Explorer, that would *scream* to me the possibility of a *misbehaving* antivirus utility with hooks through Explorer *or* a stealth virus that is escaping scans. I would go through not merely safe mode, but to fire up the System COnfiguration tool and turn off everything I didn't *know* I needed - some of those things come up even in safe mode.
I'm thinking you have triple-checked, but just in case, when you are in the Configuration screen in your UEFI settings, there is no option for "Hotkey" mode? (keyword: hotkey - I don't believe this feature is referred to as fn keys or function keys)
I shut down WebRoot protection and that didn't help. I have already removed everything I cannot identify from startup using Autoruns. I'm chasing another lead right now. Will post results.
Are you sure 192.168.1.1 is the router? Is that the default gateway you were assigned by the DHCP server? I've seen networks where the router was .254 and the DHCP range started at 1. Also, .1 may be a wired modem/router with the wireless router having a different address.
@Devil'sAdvocate Do you have Acrobat installed by any chance ?
If i did that, the explanation would be TL;DR. People are free not to reply.
This PC was just rebuilt by our tech contractor. That was the first thing I uninstalled. So it *was* there.
ok so just now, I have to disconnect and reconnect to wifi 2 times..
Do you happen to have a utility called "odrive"?
@Devil'sAdvocate No I don't have `odrive`. Did you remove Acrobat using the [cleaner](http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html) or from add & remove section ? Also is uninstalling Webroot an option ?
I removed it from Programs & Features. I could uninstall webroot, but our tech would not be happy :)
So... you're just having the connection drop intermittently? I'm not sure I totally understand the issue. Have you tried using iwconfig? (Given you're using wifi)
I do not mean to sound like I am talking down to you or anything, so please dont take it that way - but you really need to learn the fundamentals of networking before you will be able to wrap your head around dissecting a packet capture. I would suggest if you are interested in the topic, go take a look at a book that covers the Network+ certification. It is relatively easy for anyone with a technical background. That will hopefully teach you some of the foundational networking concepts that are going to be essential if you are interested in the subject matter.
Thanks Seyyed. This sounds like something that should be working but it doesn't, and I think I know why: In the "Find style" popup, the Description of Hyperlink in the "bad" document says "Font color: Hyperlink" while the same box in a normal document created by me it says "Font color: Blue". So, as I suspected, it is a matter of the Style information contained in these specific files themselves. Any ideas?
Yup, it says that I am connected to the Wifi but after a few minutes when I click on a link or redirect to a new website (say going from here to google.com), it will just keep processing and will not take to me to google. Then I need to disconnect and reconnect... please advice..
I just checked the man log notes for iwconfig and I do not understand what it does... could you please guide me on what perhaps needs to be done...
You could ask them to re-install it anyways. We do this all the time. I would use uninstaller for such scenarios
too much work? if you are interested in the subject there should be no such thing as "too much work".
I should also mention this is Windows 10 for me. Same symptoms though.
Of course! Makes sense, though I'm wondering what contexts it's used?
Thanks for your help.Recovered the data, copied to another hard and formatted the partition. Now everything's good
Good! Did you use `testdisk` following the guidance provided in the link I posted?
@eftekhari that looks a bit too complicated to deal with in a comment.
Good Q, seems to have some impact on which networks a machine will connect to, but not sure of much beyond that. Some related info - http://www.howtogeek.com/211993/how-to-fix-conflicting-country-codes-and-improve-your-macs-wi-fi/

@evilsoup You are right. This is the question I asked. Thanks http://superuser.com/questions/1083564/convert-video-to-gif
ok deleted that, restored my answer. If it was a power converter that fed AC to the device , which happens sometimes, it could depend on what happens IN the device.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GrubHowto
@TheKB it's just not a matter of changing the filesystem with something like "MiniTools Partition Wizard" ?
I have never seen `...` in `gdisk` output before. Did you alter the output while typing by hand? Anyway, [testdisk](http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk) may find lost partitions by analyzing data, independently of current partition table.
@pat2015 will this link provide me latest build?
Did you ever solve this? I am having the same issue.
Yes I'm sure, I scanned the whole subnet there are only two hosts alive (I used nmap -Pn).
I got the mac address of the router, but as it turns out it's not the cloned one, but its own. When I try to change my mac and connect to network without router, the network was not identified.
Post a sample of your data
yep. i was lazy in typing the huge figure :)
Ok issue is fixed. The cooler was the issue. Stock cooler is working fine. How to fix water cooler?
And, just in case..... https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht104064
Was there *DHCP Discover* packet from the router when you were sniffing?
@K7AAY It's *exactly* the same procedure on Windows XP upwards; your question is a duplicate. The highest upvoted answer here is even an exact mirror of the accepted answer there.
Does it use optical audio or is it 3.5mm/rca/other? How long have you had the headset? Same issue with any other headsets? Same issue with same headset on any other computer?
This should be a comment, as the first sentence of this answer said.
Yes, I sniffed it using Wireshark
How did you downgrade? Have you tried re-upgrading? What operating system?
Try removing the CMOS battery and then try to go to BIOS.
@DavidPostill you're right. maybe I didn't see it or it was edited. I will update my answer and refer to the OS restriction.
That supports changing from NTFS to FAT16/32. All of these windows supports natively. If it was one of them, windows would recognize it.
Do you mean 'in C3' .. 'in C4' as your illustration shows (instead of 'in C1' and 'in C2' as you have written?)
I checked to see that the site-packages folder has read permission by the user and it does.
How old is old? I haven't seen SCSI on laptops for two decades, but with 50 pins, it's most likley SCSI.
While it may be SCSI, if the laptop has DVD-ROM it probably isn't THAT old. It may have been for a docking station originally supplied with the laptop, therefore custom pinout. I'd buzz it out with a pin and an ohmmeter to see if the same pins are grounded as in the SCSI spec ... if all the ground pins match it's almost certainly SCSI.
SCSI connectors, standardized since 1989, are polarized (and D-shaped); this isn't. It probably serves a purpose for some mating object (a dock? an external disk? A spiffy video card?) that you would need a user manual to identify.
I wonder where it's pulling the Media Type from. It doesn't match up with anything I can find in WMI.
thanks you very much sir!it's very useful.. i really appreciate your help
@DavidPostill you're right again. but even if my answer is not entirely correct, there's still no need for a third party app because you can do it via native GUI methods. plus you would have to explain to the user how to get it on his computer and if the user is a bit naive like the OP says, this could be a little tricky.
While this might address *what* the address is, it does not answer the actual question which is *how* to find the address. OP has a very specific problem and this does not appear to be a likely solution.
What model is the laptop? Does the connector come out through the case or is it internal? If so, which side of the case?
generally you wouldnt fix a closed water cooler, you would just replace it. did the cooler itself last the full 4 years ? how many hours a day average?

@potat0 NO...............use **C1** and **C2**..............they will show as blank, but that's O.K.
No, only by remotely fingerprinting server.
Added in the question now. Thanks.
You said "it's not the cloned one, but its own". Does it mean it matches the sticker or something? Maybe it was not supposed to be changed and "its own" is the right one. Frankly, I don't know why the network rejected your computer with cloned *MAC*. Either there is something beyond my experiences here, or your cloning attempt was somewhat faulty. I recommend you edit your question and add information that you sniffed, discovered the *MAC* but couldn't connect with another hardware after cloning. Write what you did exactly to clone the *MAC*.
If all the files contain all zeros then you are out of luck. Restore from your backups. *You have backups, right?*
@Oskar: Have you tried with "get updates" *unticked*?
It makes sense since my device is much slower than the CPU. Does POSIX specifies what the state of device transfers should be when opening it? I'm trying to get rid of ongoing requests of processes killed (i.e. the device is answering). The kernel still receives data even when flushing the device and then kernel fifos, which means that the data is already sent by the device and in transit somewhere in the IO tree (usb device -> usb host -> pci)...). I am shocked by how hard it is to find a solution to this very simple and common case: how to get a clean overall RX/TX state, both SW and HW...
The only thing that bugs me is that, is it possible that it's used as access point not as router? As I said i just moved to my apartment I have no idea where the cable comes from
But now I don't know how many is filed and I can't pick field.
**BACKUP** well that's the where problem arises or else I wouldn't have even asked in first place. But if every bit is zero how it has maintained it's size
The size is not stored with the file contents.
@TomWijsman Yes, no difference
http://superuser.com/questions/35731/how-to-enable-4gb-in-my-windows-7-64-bit
Sorry! I am just very happy!
Did you obey "Win7 MAC Address Changer" when it said "Please disable and enable the network adapter for changes to take effect"?
A bit set to 0 takes up just as much space as a bit set to 1. Anyhow it's perfectly normal, and expected that recovered data will often be corrupt, many times beyond usability. Since there's nothing in the world that can magically recreate usable data from nothing, you're out of luck unless you have a valid backup.
It also depends on your hardware. What are your specs?
so this task only runs under that user? Another schedule to check the other schedule would that work? Does the computer get booted many times in the long delay between no-one knowing it had failed? would it be sufficient to check at boot (or many boots) that the task had not run in X boots?
@Psycogeek It doesn't reboot very often at all, but even if it did: how do I run a task to check if the tasks are failing to start, though? I'd run it under an account--the same account--which would have the exact same issue on a changed password, with no ground gained. 'Who watches the Watchmen?' The linked question doesn't seem to answer this either.
Did it EVER show all 4GB of RAM? Does all the RAM capacity report properly in the BIOS?
Sorry please more information (I have learnt English but not well) So I don't understand what you couldn't do
Yes I disabled and enabled, actually I sniffed packets after that too and the mac was indeed changed so it can't be the issue
My English is very poor that can be a problem. I want to sort file contain, that kind of lines as I wrote and field to sort is 1 - "AAACTTT" and I want to sort this as "TTTCAAA".
Sorry, no. "Month" is the selected view in both examples, showing more that 21 days...
What would happen if you schedule the shutdown via the hardware? BIOS/UEFI on many motherboards have had a scheduled time the computer would be operational for, turning it on and off. because the "power" switch (hardware) is capable of initiating a proper (windows) shutdown, although I have never seen that. Why do you have extended timing on your shutdown command? I think mine is to fast to try and stop it with another shutdown command.
Do you want to implement this for each field?
Wake on lan is not enabled.
Because all computers at the office use IE 8 and we cant upgrade them at the moment. So I need to test my development on IE 8, that's why the downgrade. And actually I am using a VM, but I don't think that's the problem
Thanks for your comment, I will try it and give feedback later. I am using VM , but I think this was working before the downgrade. Thank you
Right, probably transmission power regulations, etc. Thanks!
Thank you! for the sake of completeness, I updated my question to include the old monitor's model and link.
No only for this one.
Oh gawd. Well i just finally got a life as of last week, so the computer was on about 12 hours A day. Minimum, usually 15 or so.
By replace, do u mean spend another 100$ on a new h100i? Or replacement tubes or something?
As it tourns out the plex dlna does not stream 4k videos in this case either. Neither is the plex app for my Smart TV
@Psycogeek But I can't depend on the Task Scheduler to watch the scheduler; as soon as the password of the running account changes _everything_ that is run by the Task Scheduler completely breaks and fails to run entirely. So a Batch called from the Task Scheduler would never find an issue, because if it had the chance to find the issue it _also_ would fail to run.
My lamer method is to write or append simple stuff to simple txt (text like) files from batch, then read those simple text files for what they say in them. That can include dates, or just that the file exists, or that the file has some word in it. The file is then deleted by the batch, or deleted by the other batch, to finish. Batches of that type could also be run from scheduler obviously, at every startup, or other methods one could dream up. DIY event viewer :-)
UAC does NOT run a program with an admin token by default. It only does it if the program asks for admin permissions AND if you grant it through the UAC prompt.
Actually, this reply really irks me. I would wager there are a number of topics (e.g. pure mathematics) where I would have specialist knowledge you do not. So am I not supposed to post anything regarding a comparatively basic topic that i just don't have the time to read the entire internet and waste a lot of time for offending your sensibilities?
I don't think it's a virus. It's almost certainly registry corruption.
Good answer. You can also use a free hex editor called [HxD](https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/) on the .csv file itself to confirm that those hex characters 0D (CHAR(10)) and 0A (CHAR(13)) are actually the characters causing the paragraph breaks.
I (barely) understood that, but I did Initially observe in your question, that the (alleged) duplicate would not work in the cases of the schedule never running, so how would anything know the schedule itself had failed, or the batch in the schedule had failed, if None of it is working at that time. By checking that the schedule worked with other methods, that do not use the scheduler. On the other hand, schedules dont have to depend on users, they can be run system? the system schedules dont all fail because of users or password changes? that I don't understand.
@JukesOnYou I edited my answer. There is *MDI-X* pitfall. Give feedback: can you sniff incoming packet(s) when you connect your PC directly to ISP?
Thanks for the reply. The docs from Checkpoint state Chrome is not supported due to it not enabling NPAPI plugins any more... I'm surprised you got it to work there. How did you manage to install the Java plugin? BTW, in Firefox 32-bit, are you still using Java 8 U66? I started getting problems after updating to the latest SE 8 U92.
It's very device and protocol specific. If the protocol has some kind of ping you can send, you can wait for a response and then consider both ends in synch. If not, you can send a bunch of things that get a response. The protocol docs should say how to establish sync.
Try this one `cat YourFile|sed 's/\([^ ]*\)\(.*\)/echo -e $(echo \1|rev)\2/g'|bash|sort |sed 's/\([^ ]*\)\(.*\)/echo -e $(echo \1|rev)\2/g'|bash`
It's been a long time, but I added content from the remote link. Hope it's better like this.
I executed `.ecxr ; kb ; dps 61bf12c ; kb` after each exception while running through WinDbg and update the question above
also you can try first part of it to understand how is it working. Firstly try `cat YourFile|sed 's/\([^ ]*\)\(.*\)/echo -e $(echo \1|rev)\2/g'|bash` secondly try this `cat YourFile|sed 's/\([^ ]*\)\(.*\)/echo -e $(echo \1|rev)\2/g'|bash|sort` this will give you how it is working
@SwDevRefugee : I would like your advice http://unix.stackexchange.com/q/287279/52764
This is my exact use case as well, and so far this is the best solution for me.
I hope this will help you. The command look like very long but it is as fast as what you expected. There is also `awk` way but I am not enough good in awk.
You are wasting your time ranting. There is no reason to take anything here personal. I simply want to help you realize your question sounds like you expect us to do your work (which we realize is not always the case). Asking for additional details helps us to know what you have attempted so we don't duplicate the effort and offer solutions you have already tried. We see this over and over again. Bottom line is, if you do not want to add details, then don't. I really don't care either way.
Giving the non-admin account explicit access to file system objects, registry keys, and any other objects which the EXE would manipulate may do the trick as well rather than using the RUNAS, etc. if you can determine what all the EXE would need access to run successfully. As a systems admin I've found that some programs/apps are programmed logic wise to run on Windows assuming that the user account that runs it will be a local admin -- this is a definite problem in a corporate environment with security guidelines so that's another thing to consider potentially as well.
'Delete boot option' should do the trick
https://www.smartsheet.com/blog/gantt-chart-excel
This doesn't work with very large files - obviously reads whole file into memory.
Upon some further research, Always On Top is a program written in one line of AutoHotKey script - I found the author's blog and downloaded AHK myself which I'm a little more comfortable with than some random exe.
Need details about your hardware. Crappy onboard video cards can steal some of the system RAM. Some hardware can't actually handle a 4GB. A quick test would be to boot a Linux livecd. If i t also reports a limited amount of RAM, then the problem is somehow related to your hardware.
hi @Shoeless, thank you for your response. i've just checked again, and none of the configuration options remotely resemble "hotkey" or "function key" or anything that could change keyboard behavior.
Did you try looking at the options for `Delete boot option`?
my UEFI configuration screen looks much more "modern" than the pictures in that article (i.e., has less-harsh colors, smooth fonts, and even some gradients in the menus).
I'm not seeing that. I see only the person listed on the organization tab. I'm wondering if someone has turned off the feature.
The water could have gotten nasty, the surfaces even with proper glycol (type) liquids in it could be coated with gunk now. the tubes could be getting stiffer/brittle the motor could be worn, the impeller could be aged and stiff or broken. IMO you replace, or use a premium quality air cooler with much less possible problems. If you tear it apart, i want to see it in Your Answer that explains that it was the cooler failing . . . please.
What happens when you right-click outlook.exe and click "open". Shell extensions can cause interesting problems sometimes.
@LPChip Yeah, very crucial to have known...
This one works for me. One click to change it. It uses a bat file! so actually you can do ANYTHING in one click. https://sourceforge.net/projects/soundgadget/
What you are describing here is Admin Approval Mode - I already know about all that; I am talking about when you do elevate the process, is it possible for the process to run as the logged in user, rather than the administrator whose credentials were used. That is what is so confusing.
There are apps out there that will batch rename files for you. Doing this with `cmd` sounds like a world of hurt. Might be time to learn some powershell scripting if the apps won't work for you.
You were right. It turned out that Outlook was offline (had a red x displaying in it's icon on the Windows 7 task bar). I restarted it and it appeared similar to your picture.
concentric, yes, thanks
I've installed the TreeSize, and it found it out. I have only one drive, c: and Windows has also indicated that the file is located there. Strangely I don't see it in TotalCommander or Windows explorer, even with hidden items. Now everything adds up, thanks!
Or why not just skip the MS'isms and try Python instead; there are plenty of examples that will help you get where you wish. Even as a novice you will be *running* past this level.
@w32sh same behavior. Turns out iexplore is getting the same error when I try to open it as well.
Are all updated installed on the Surface 3 (both firmware and software)? I am wondering if the "***for Android Tablets***" has anything to do with the issue you are having. Amazon notes state "*Mouse is compatible with Android OS versions 3.1 or newer*" and "*You may need a USB dongle or other Bluetooth adapter in order to pair this mouse with some PCs or laptops; please consult your manufacturer for compatibility before purchase*"
Also take a look at this http://superuser.com/questions/347931/how-do-i-rename-a-bunch-of-files-in-the-command-prompt/348036#348036 -- not a dupe exactly but relevant
Try `powercfg -requestsoverride DRIVER srvnet system` and `powercfg -requestsoverride DRIVER \FileSystem\srvnet system`
@allquixotic I don't recall it ever working before, and there's nothing in that directory.
Nice regex, if you have zmv it's easier: zmv '(*)' '${(C)1[1]}$'
That's not possible IMHO, it would be like hacking a server without logging to it. You could try exploit some vulnerability, but otherwise servers by design make discovering open ports for services as hard as they can. If they are set up properly even a simple IP scan should trigger safety measures and disconnect your IP.
No. 9 was my problem
try `dnf --disableplugin=protected_packages update`
I very much doubt a regular account could ever gain an elevated token. Because that’s what you’d need.
@SimonS: Almost anything can be done by native means if you know how to do it and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty. So that, alone, isn't a reason to disparage all 3rd party apps. However, you're right that a software rec should contain information on how to use it to solve the problem. In this case, the only missing piece of instruction is how to unzip and run the software, which is a pretty basic task. The included link has pretty extensive guidance, and the gist of the solution is shown here with a picture.
@DavidPostill that has no effect, either on the current boot, nor on subsequent boots. How can one verify those have taken effect? How can one disable those overrides after application?
@SimonS: There may be better solutions already posted, but this appears to be a legitimate alternative.
In that case, you might want to post a bug report with Debian, since it sounds like it may be the default Debian configuration that's filling the limited storage available in NVRAM.
@Zeeshan look into the future for me and tell me if its fixed the problem... After tightening/replacing the missing screws the laptop is working fine but hard to say if this is the fix or not as the problem happens sometimes and not others. The reason why I have marked this as the answer is because for now this is working and I have found multiple questions about Acer laptops with the same issue as mine and that was the fix for them.
Am I missing something here? I thought the whole point is to NOT use the Run As feature, which is basically what UAC is
That last part helped a lot. I was trying to figure out why mine wasn't working properly.
@w32sh editflags: 38 07 00 00. FriendlyTypeName: @%systemroot%\system32\shell32.dll,-10156
(Rather annoyingly) it looks like this feature changed in Word 2013 onwards. See http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-word/why-does-the-spacing-before-a-paragraphheading/c72dc65b-6343-48c5-963a-7fd33ebbf02b?page=2 for some workarounds: (1) save as Word 2010 docx; (2) set compatibility option to Word 2010; or (3) modify your font (advanced tab on font dialog) so that it is Lowered by, say, 50pt (eg font size + paragraph space before you want).
Did you try the pluging headphones in 3/4 on the other devices? Many of the connection ports for the 3.5mm stereo will do the same thing, when the connection for one channel sits on the 2 connections (L+R) on the plug that you are inserting. If that was occuring you are only hearing Mono through both channels and a stereo test file would prove that. I do not think you have described anything (yet) that points to anything other than the jack on the board itself is not connecting proper , somewhere.
@NeilMayhew The question is titled *"How to check which timezone in **Linux**?"*, why would anyone (who reads it or comes into this seeking for help) care for an OSX or an OS-agnostic answer?
*(love that helper column +1)*
@Gary'sStudent was just about to put up a comment saying how I had to put that in there just for you.
The R9 390 is an external GPU, it can be removed, like any other PCI-E GPU on the market.
@jatuttle0 Oh im sorry I forgot to metnion these bits of info! It uses a standard 3.5mm jack, I had it for about a year now, and i suspected it might be the spliter (single to double jack) so i bought a new one but it wasn't it, and all other headsets work atreat. Even when i pluged the heaset and instead of the headset mic i pluged an external one, everything worked perfectly fine. And unfortunately I havent tested on other computers, but ill do that ASAP! Thanks!
@Tymski I don't have any references or explanation. This isn't something that I read online, or in a book somewhere. It's from my actual life; my own observation and personal experience.
Bash shell script consists of Linux commands. ifconfig executed in a shell script will slow its result in terminal as usual. What's your REAL question?
Why is `Any file system which invites the host OS to write randomly to it (NTFS, Recycle Bin) is bad news for an SD.`? It doesn't consist of rotating disks, so wherever you read/write shouldn't matter, I think. And btw, NTFS writes contiguously — which leads to fragmentation. «Random stores of files» is, e.g., about EXTα.
The comparison is unfair. You compared non-journaling FAT with journaling EXT3/4. You ought to compare FAT vs EXT2. And just FYI, the file system that came preformatted by manufacturer usually have the most optimal block sizes/offsets. I.e. after you reformatted the file system, there's a possibility that IO would take longer than with the original one.
Pin not required, but may help (I'm not too sure about it, but something I read seems to give this hint).
You wrote `netstat` meaning `netstat -l`, right? In my Debian it omits listening sockets by default.
Thank you, @Frank, I will look into exiftool and see if it will do what I need.
Hey man, no errors on the output. Thank you very much for your help. You think this will solve the problem and prevent my server from being used for this attacks ?
Add another overlay filter, where first input is the output of the previous overlay filter e.g. `[out][2:v]overlay[out2]`
It would be great to get the question reopened - there is still no answer for linux and no canoncial answer that goes over all three operating systems. The other questions is not asking for a multi or cross-operating system solution.
I got the answer for the question. container.SetPermissions(new BlobContainerPermissions { PublicAccess = BlobContainerPublicAccessType.Container }); container.CreateIfNotExists();
Then perhaps I will need a little Python! Thanks.
This will prevent anyone from outside your network (192.168.0.0/24) from accessing port 111. If this udp port was using to attack server - now this type of attacks is blocked. But a) this can be not only vector of attack; b) system can be already compromised. As recommendation, it will be good to perform some virus/rootkit check.
@tjt263 I'm not disagreeing with you in the slightest!
This is answering a completely different question...
Well, I do quibble with your "10 metres" as if that were a constant.
Depending on the age of your old computer your hard disk may be formatted MBR. Windows only supported booting from MBR on old BIOS based systems and chances are your new mobo is UEFI based, on which windows only supports booting from GPT disks. There are some tools to convert MBR to GPT for this purpose out there, but I don't know how well they work.
Yeah, my old hard drive was formatted with MBR...let me try changing it to GPT.
That only takes care of CRAN dependencies, my problem is with deb dependencies. I have a vague memory of doing something with that which worked, log ago, but cant remember how.
Why would you want to reinstall windows for this?
This is unrelated to EC2, but about ssh key usage and files in general. You can't log in to A then from there log in to B unless you have a copy of a private key on A that you can use when logging in to B... and you don't. `authorized_keys` contains *public* keys, not *private*. Leave it alone. It's not an identity file, not usable with `-i`. You "could" put B's private key on A, but you "should" use an SSH tunnel through A to B. Security groups are unrelated, and the is 0 wait time needed.
The following ssh -v as below
Can you be more explicit about what you mean by "tried to use this NAT server to remote login into webserver" ?
Post the output of ssh with `-v` option.
Perhaps uninstalling and reinstalling the Intel drivers is a good idea. I did just recently do a whole bunch of Windows updates... do you think that might have corrupted some of the Intel drivers? also dxdiag.exe showed no problems.
I have the same problem on Win 8.1 and it is driving me insane
@Mokubai Converted to GPT and that doesn't work.
I forgot , The easy test for your grafics to see if they are functioning proper (with dxdiag) is to do the system assessment. Improper it would show your grafics at about 1, proper you should hit at least 4 with even lesser intel. Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools
My comment is kind of a non-answer, in the sense that I couldn't reach anyone who knew a solution, but this doesn't imply that in the future somebody else may come up with some proper solution
Thanks! It worked. You save me a lot of time and what's more important, I learnt about enabledelaedexpansion. Thanks for the references.
6.9 on subcore list for Graphics
Can you please add the make and model of your Wi-Fi adapter?
You need to provide more info. What computer? What wifi model? We can't just guess what hardware you have. Is the PC/Laptop/etc that you have is supported by Windows 10? Do you have USB to Ethernet (or USB WiFi) adapter you can use temporarily to download the drivers for it? (Windows 10 is surprisingly good at finding drivers for hardware)
Ok, back to v-sync issue. comment cleanup. The aero desktop is supposed to enforce V-sync, your not having any issues there? Can you get a good clean version of MPC (media player classic) to try? with it not only can you adjust sync, but you can test other renderers (3d or 2d) ? it also has a "tearing" test.
This answer could have better served as a comment.
Okay I installed in PC and really tearing test. all I saw were red lines going across the screen there was no output or conclusion to the test... Was I supposed to let it run longer? PS - it was still tearing
that xvfb trick worked beautifully. +1
nope it just displays the tearing easy to see. then in options -> playback ->output there is many ways to adjust. like try the "overlay mixer" , you Must stop and restart program when changing renderers. Uhh whats this supposed to prove? test 2d , 3d and overlay. does it happen in all of them?
Let us [continue this discussion in chat](http://chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/40688/discussion-between-kalamalka-kid-and-psycogeek).
Did you try to write the _path to that directory_ as it happears in windows? Maybe omit the drive and if needed try to use `'...'` to fix the contents of the string.
@w32sh This is happening when using the short-cut "Windows Key" and "E" to open the Windows File Explorer. It takes especially long after a reboot. But sometimes also a few seconds if the Explorer was used already.
If by "switch" you mean a device that does layer 2 only, then most real web servers are not connected to switches because switching only devices tend to be low end and the higher end devices that have the speeds and densities real datacenters need also have routing functions.
@magicandre1981 thx for the hint, I do not what to do that. But I'm gonna test if this is cause and will let you know.
@Hastur When I executed `ssh-keygen` the first time, I didn't foresee this issue and I kept the `/home/roconnor/.ssh` directory... The directory `C:\Users\roconnor\.ssh` exists, and the directory `/home/roconnor/.ssh` points to it, but I was wondering if it was possible to change the saved path for `/home/roconnor/.ssh` to `C:/Users/roconnor/.ssh`
Could you post a small example of case #2 ?
_In BIOS its showing 4096 MB ram_ what motherboard do you have? Seems like it's capped to 4GB right there.
I don't know chocolatey but it seems it installed a normal version of ssh compiled for windows. If I correctly undestood your issue, in the setup directory of ssh it should be stored the path for the user ssh dir. There you have to change the string. Test it before passing from command line with the option relative to your version, the path of your ssh keys; then update the config file.
brilliant. If this answer helped you and fixed your problem, please upvote it and/or accept it as an answer so that others can benefit from it as well :)
Can you show your shell script please?
Something in your Formula does not really work for what I want to use it. I think I got missunderstood in a certain point which is the following: I would like to compare every Person of a group with all the others OF THE SAME GROUP! and retrieve the sum of each smallest No. of the compared cells. The Formula I use in Excel for Group 1 (e.g. Row 1 to 16) is the following: =SUM(MIN(A1,A$1),MIN(A1,A$2),MIN(A1,A$3),MIN(A1,A$4),MIN(A1,A$5),MIN(A1,A$6),MIN(A1,A$7),MIN(A1,A$8),MIN(A1,A$9),MIN(A1,A$10),MIN(A1,A$11),MIN(A1,A$12),MIN(A1,A$13),MIN(A1,A$14),MIN(A1,A$15),MIN(A1,A$16))-A1
PROBLEM: formula works only for rows A1 to A16 For Group 2, Row 17 to 33. I use following Formula if I do it by hand: =SUM(MIN(F18,F$18),MIN(F18,F$19),MIN(F18,F$20),MIN(F18,F$21),MIN(F18,F$22),MIN(F18,F$23),MIN(F18,F$24),MIN(F18,F$25),MIN(F18,F$26),MIN(F18,F$27),MIN(F18,F$28),MIN(F18,F$29),MIN(F18,F$30),MIN(F18,F$31),MIN(F18,F$32),MIN(F18,F$33))-F18 How can I make the Formula change like I did for Row 1to16 into Row 17to33 by itself for every next 16 rows?
Already the array formula =SUM(IF(A1<$A$1:$A$16,A1,$A$1:$A$16))-A1 that you suggested somehow does not give me the right numbers out! Because it does not refer to the same things that my formula did before..
BetterTouchTool is not free anymore.
This option appears for me only if I start the VM with a "Detachable Start"
`.bashrc` `.profile` and `.bash_profile` would also be contenders. unfortunately I fixed the problem by resorting to homebrew rather than npm
Don't use line-oriented tools like `sed` and `awk`. Use something suitable for XML like `xmlstarlet`, or `xsltproc`, or a programming language with suitable XML libraries.
Open Folder Options > Set "Open File Explorer" to "This PC" Try WinKey + E now. If it opens fine, then problem is with Quick access caches.
Have you tried using [Takeown?](https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753024(WS.10).aspx)
Is there a good reason not to just use `PROMPT_COMMAND="history -a; history -c; history -r; $PROMPT_COMMAND"` instead?
It worked! I have connection now! amazing! thanks!
@w32sh This sounds good. I'll try later when at home. Can you place you last comment as an answer so I can accept if it works?
@hopeseekr Some of our devs had quite a few issues installing it too - there are some odd quirks on Windows, and then your VM doesn't have the right vbox drivers etc.. it's not quite as simple as it appears for sure. Having said that, I think the benefits outweigh the issues. It feels like Vagrant is still a bit rough around the edges (as though no windows guys ever test it..)
Thanks, the first tip is really handy. I didn't know you could do that. Regarding the batch file, I was hoping it would be possible to automatically trigger 'Run with Admin Rights' without using the right click menu, but I guess not - I certainly haven't discovered anything since writing this question.
Try using WinDbg by following the guide [here](http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Analyze-a-BSOD-Crash-Dump/).
Sure. Layer 3 switches are combinations of routers and switches. The switch portion of a layer 3 switch is still a switch, and the router potion is still a router. They are operating at different levels of the stack.
verified, this is the correct answer
He's asking about the physical devices that web servers are connected to. Not the function of some portion of those devices. The kind of terminology you're using, IMO, just adds confusion. If a switch is layer 2 only, then if the web server is connected to a device that is not layer 2 only, it is not connected to a switch. Since that conclusion seems really strange and confusing, I don't say a switch is layer 2 only. (And you shouldn't either, unless you want to confuse people.)
@InterLinked Office 2016 for Mac. Maybe it's the Mac version that doesn't have that feature
How did you work out this tree?
No @Dave , post formatting issues...
AFAIK, FF doesn't leverage IE's zones (unlike Chrome, which did/does, to some extent). The non-fqdn settings described here only work for hostnames without a domain, e.g. `http://portal` and `http://server1`
While this may answer the question, it would be a better answer if you could provide some explanation **why** it does so.
Remember you must use the UP/Down Arrow keys to select the remembered URL you wish to delete ### THIS IS CRITICAL ###
The term "layer 3" switch is confusing imo, because it obscures the separate roles of routing and switching simply because they are in a single device. The role of switching packets *is* layer 2 and when a switch (whether it is a layer 2 or layer 3) does switching, it is layer 2 only. If it is moving packets between different broadcast domains it is routing. It doesn't help if you confuse the issue by suggesting that these functions are the same thing, regardless of the nature of the physical device they are housed in being a single box or multiple. The terminology is accurate.
Please read the question again carefully. Your answer does **not** answer the original question, which asks for a **keyboard shortcut**.
I was interessted whether there is a general way to do this, but I edited some information in for you.
This answer does not work for me. Just get the usual file not found error. `dir /x` does not produce another name than `dir`.
This answer http://superuser.com/a/97528 claims that you could also just add `mydomain.com` (if that's what you want)
This method worked for my file, which could not be deleted using `del *.` or other tricks.
What Ramhound said. Your mass storage setting was most likely set to the default value AHCI. Setting it to RAID should get your Windows to boot again.
Is IE storing cookies for other websites, such as Amazon?
What do the `pvs`, `vgs`, `lvs`, `lsblk -o name,kname,size,type,fstype,mountpoint` commands output? Even though /dev/sda1 isn't mounted _directly_, it's still in use – there's a LVM layer in between.

@Dave yes. twitter, google, etc
the space of death
It is possible, but you would need to gather a lot of information (what program stores what settings where? And this is not only registry, but also spread across several folders on your drive - one of the few things that Linux does better). You'll easily spend 1-2 weeks for this. It's much easier and way less time consuming to just reinstall everything.
Thanks for the help! I can open the VBA editor and add code, but I don't know where inside the code I should indicate which cells to check. I have used MATLAB but thats it.
Is it possible to mount the windows HDD under the Linux environment? In that way it should show all the files in realtime... (or even only the directory of the Cygwin home)
Then the issue is your code? What does not persist mean? Does it expire quickly or not set?
*You have backups, right?*
Great idea, But unfortunately the files are not visible. The way around it, is to Copy files from Windows Directory to the Linux Sub System Directory via Bash.exe Doing it this way need `cp -r --no-preserve=all ` To drop the previous permissions. Still, if you want to make any heavy changes, you cannot use a windows application to edit the file in the LinuxSubSystem, You have to edit it, in your windows Directory and then copy it over. Now i know this, its workable, BUT i was under the impression the Linux Sub System was more native / integrated into windows than an Isolated OS
If you create a Console Class than in the Main() Method you have to write Console.ReadLine(); at the end. This example would be for C#
Possible duplicate of [IP Address vs MAC addresses](http://superuser.com/questions/131178/ip-address-vs-mac-addresses)
Do you mean the output window? Or are you writing a console app?
Have you tried dragging the bottom right corner where the 3 dots are?
Thank you for this helpful information, Does the outbound application-level buffer share by all the outgoing flows of this application or each flow has its own buffer. Based on the example, we will have 1000 tcp socket buffer or a single shared tcp socket buffer, assuming the application is tcp-based.
@Dave yes I think I am working on a console app (I am new to this). But my concern is, the command-line interface where my output is supposed to appear, executes the lines of code successfully and disappears so fast I can't know what happened. All I will know is that code executed successfully.
@Devid I guess this won't work for C++ right? I tried to type it and I see that _CONSOLE is the only thing available in library
@Ramhound, perhaps, but, the statement is based on how I've seen it marketed. E.g., see [The .WS Story](http://website.ws/about.dhtml): "We thought that the abbreviation .WS could be successfully marketed worldwide as the 'WebSite' top-level domain..." and the Wikipedia article to which I linked, which includes "The .ws country code has been marketed as a domain hack, with the .ws purportedly standing for "World Site" or "Web Site..."
This is an amazing reply, thank you so much for this. Very interesting to see how much some people know. I've spent some more time online looking for an answer, and taking your reply into consideration - this is not possible.
My laptop is not a particular make and model, it's sold without a brand. The model number is W840SU.
have you tried pivot table? that would do exactly what you need, without any complex formula.
Good that worked
Is that actually true for the typical datacenter network? I've seen devices marketed as "L3 switches" with routing abilities, but to my knowledge most of them _don't_ have those.
According to the concept does it mean if I increase RAM memory(probably another 4GB stick ) then I will have 8000-1473=6527 MB usable memory?
This works well in `Far`+`ConEmu`, unlike `pushd`.
@Moab, `to` is the same as `to.`, just as `abc.com` is the same as `abc.com.` - see [Trailing Dots in Domain Names](http://www.dns-sd.org/trailingdotsindomainnames.html): "... fully-qualified (unambiguous) DNS domain names have a dot at the end. People running DNS servers usually know this (if you miss the trailing dots out, your DNS configuration is unlikely to work) but the general public usually doesn't. A domain name that doesn't have a dot at the end is not fully-qualified and is potentially ambiguous. This was documented in the DNS specification, RFC 1034, way back in 1987"
@David Schwartz *"He's asking about the physical devices that web servers are connected to. Not the function of some portion of those devices."* No actually I don't necessarily mean the physical devices that Web Servers are connected to. So if of a Web Server is connected to a single physical device that acts both as a Switch (layer 2) and a Router (layer 3), I'll consider the Web Server to be connected to a Switch and the Switch is connected to a Router.
The H100i supplied back plate should be snug to the motherboard not loose at all, and if it is loose it is improperly installed and not allowing the clamping pressure is was designed for
It'll appear in /dev only if udev is present (or an equivalent), and as a rule to create the node in it. Does not mean it can't be used, you can create the node where you want, since you have the Major/Minor number in lsblk.
no no I didn't take it any other way. as a matter of fact I have strong foundation in networking as a computer science engineer. And unfortunately theoretically I know how to sniff from the above architecture. but I don't have enough practical experience to pull it off.
@harrymc, "to" is the country code for Tonga. The period at the end doesn't change it. Though you are likely accustomed to not seeing a period at the end of a FQDN name, since browsers don't require it, the proper form according to the [RFC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Request_for_Comments), includes it. From [RFC 1034](http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1034.txt): "When a user needs to type a domain name, the length of each label is omitted and the labels are separated by dots ("."). Since a complete domain name ends with the root label, this leads to a printed form which ends in a dot."
Ok i've edited the thing ;)
[Make Firefox remember usernames and passwords](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-and-import#w_make-firefox-remember-usernames-and-passwords)?
[Usernames and passwords are not saved](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/usernames-and-passwords-are-not-saved#w_remember-password-prompt-is-not-displayed)
You can use the Saved Passwords Editor extension for web sites where Firefox doesn't offer to save the Username /Password. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60265/
I was hoping there was a software solution to this problem. I researched port mirroring as you mentioned. But I want the router1 to be constant. I mean I don't want to mess with router1 but Anything after that I can change. But port mirroring at second level will also not suffice would it?
2nd result from searching for your question title ...
@DavidPostill I searched, just not that precise phrase. Thanks.
Security is a spectrum, so yes, it is a more secure idea to apply multiple controlling factors, such as IP whitelists. As to whether this is required or whether simply using certificate auth is "secure enough" for your peace of mind , only you can say, but in general a depth-in-defense strategy will involve using multiple controls to restrict access.
Sorry, I should have mentioned that storing passwords entered into HTML forms works fine, i.e. I see the "Remember Password" prompt
That ASUS model has not enough throughput to process that much data, so your data should be moved at layer 2 (switch level) not layer 3 (router level). VLAN routing is layer 3.
The link seems to be down at the moment. Here's an alternative link to the portable version http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/babelmap-portable
The Saved Passwords Editor add-on does the trick, thanks! Maybe I can still find out what's wrong with my installation.
Thx, now it works, it turned out that I had to update my rar installation from 5.3 to 5.4 beta 2
@Tanya I had this unreasonable behaviour in Word 2010 and I believe it's a property in .docx files. The only solution is to save in the old .doc format
So you assume that thermal issues cause the problem, however I don't see any indications for thermal issues.
Answer added :p
I have been using ctrl + f5 for debugging, the windows stays open after successful execution but when I act on the program itself (for example a program which sums integers, if I enter integers and then end the program by entering a non-integer, the "sum" which is the answer, flashes so quickly that I don't get to see the actual answer. For example it sums 163+256+911 and gives correct answer but so quickly that I don't see it before command line window closes) I think my initial question has to be improved upon but this should explain what my problem is
Should also note that when you clone a repository you normally default to checking out master. This depends on the HEAD ref in the repository you are cloning. So after master is deleted, make sure the HEAD points to the branch you want as default.
Also, ensure you have autonegotiation enabled for gigabit ethernet. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabit_Ethernet#1000BASE-T "Autonegotiation is a requirement for using 1000BASE-T ..." If in your troubleshooting you disabled autonegotiation, turn it back on.
I don't think this answers my question. You pointed me to a page that has nothing to do with detecting an adapter in a firewall rule, but rather appears to be about debugging situations in which firewall rules are blocking your LAN. My question is not specific to a LAN or other network. It's specific to the network adapter. I'm asking about **firewall rules** in particular. I want to **create** such a rule.
@moonpoint: "to" is the country code for Tonga but it has nothing to do with the question. `http://to` evaluates to 216.74.32.107, which is certainly not the address of the entire state of Tonga.
It isn't an issue. The windows update service doesn't know how to use more then one core and when it is running most of the time it uses the whole core.
@moonpoint So you don't disagree the last statement is opinion based
Much easier way to get there, thanks!
Yes. See the second image above. I came there by dragging as u said. It doesn't stay that way after u make a selection and visit it the next time
Very nice description. Note that you don't have to download and edit the xpi file, see the answer below.
If this is for an app for usage by more than a very few people, the upstream bandwidth of your internet connection won't be able to handle the demand. You need a cloud service served from a data center. If that doesn't explain, rephrase your question and tell us about what the volume of requests for an image will be, and what the upstream bandwidth is of the network the rPi will be connected to.
Afaik it is not possible to change default gateway settings in Cisco's _AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client_. It is possible to configure such things on the server side, but this is no option here. Furthermore, this VPN client propably observes changes made to the routes and resets them (???).
Actually I forgot completly about the bandwidth of my internet. This application could have thousand's of clients (depends on his success :P), so I should forgot about the Raspberry pi server. What about buying a server online?
For further information for others: this needs to be run from the host. If your host is Windows, open a Command Prompt, cd to "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox", and run that command. There doesn't seem to be any option in the VirtualBox Manager GUI (at least in all versions from 4.* to 5.0.20) which lets you set this any other way.

That's what I thought. There's actually several ready made online services, where you can upload the asset and access via URL. Dropbox is one, but will be pricey at that level. While this site typically isn't for shopping your should Google "dreamobjects". More generically Google "cloud storage"
Thank you for the head start! I'll make my search about Google cloud storage and I'll update this post if I managed something.
Thank u @Dhiwakar Ravikumar .I Have already tried your logic with MINAGE, but no success. Here the problem is if some file is copied on on monday to the backup and it is deleted from the source on tuesday. Then the file is 1 day old on tuesday on backup too(because it was created on monday).According to my requirement if X=5 it is to be deleted on sunday as 5 days completes on sunday. But as you said it is becoming 5 days old on saturday (it is happening in MINAGE:5).I want it to delete after X days of deletion from source not X days on creation.
For mac, where should these values be set?
Even non waterproof phones are almost waterproof. They have lots of glue unlike PCs which use screws
Why do you want to do this?
Note: iTerm2's new release of Build 3.0.0 adds "Atom" to the list of options for the "Open with editor..." dropdown as pictured above. You'll find it now in Preferences under Profiles -> Advanced -> Semantic History.
Thanks! How do I tell the system that the actual size of the disk is 16GB without rewriting or deleting anything from it (I mean can constrain my intrusion to the first 512bytes of the drive?)? See, I can only backup those 200MB, and I'm sure the lost data is beyond that space. Regarding the recovery, go-to tools for Windows (EaseUS products) did no good.
What is the format of these files? Are they plain text?
It should be noted that after doing this you cannot rename the original volume via Explorer. It will change the other volume labels back. It is easily undone though by removing the label again, no reboot required. However, if you want to rename the original you can follow the same procedure and create an entry in the registry.
The fact that it is taking a lot of CPU means, in my humble opinion, that something is wrong. As far as I can judge, Windows update just needs to verify some versions and in case a more recent version is found, make sure that the PC gets subscribed for update on next shutdown or restart. This does not look like a big challenge for the CPU. So what is the CPU doing all that time and in case it's having issues, how can I know which issues they are? (is there a logfile for the Windows Update?)
Hi, sorry for the late reply. My account had some problems. I reinstalled Google Chrome and it works perfect now. Thank you all for your help.
did you revert all of your power settings to the defaults? advanced power settings included?
Doesn work with laptops and tablets (cause you may lose warranty).
@gronostaj Any idea which driver? I can't seem to find a suitable one on the [Samsung website for this laptop](http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/NP530U3C-A0AUK), and they're all old drivers anyway (Windows 7 - so old even for when the laptop shipped)
it won't work. just extract your files by using a hiren disk and then format and use it again.
my man entry reports that `xhost +` permits ANY user to use the host X session. The stdout, says: "...clients can connect from any host." Is there a method to specify ONE user only or a add a user to the Set of users?
I would search for a virus. which might trying to popup. also try to disable visual effects on windows. make it performance and try if you see it again. it might be a problem with resolution too. try to lower it.
I've had this in relation to a connection to an external monitor. Do you have any connections to anything that the system might be treating as an external display (inc. wireless connections to tablets, etc.)? It's a bit difficult without a bit more information on whether this has always happened since it was taken out of the box, or if you had just installed a new piece of software/hardware.
That ordering would require one to store the last exit value before running the history commands, since many prompt commands rely on or display it.
@ErdemEce Yes I have tried that, it doesn't fix the issue sadly.
@RichardAllan It has always happened, since the first time I have closed the lid and reopened it. I can't really tell what I have installed before that, but nothing unusal (Chrome, Avast, Steam, etc.). I have not connected it to anything external neither. I wonder if it's a BIOS issue ?
Yes. Indeed, those are correct. This just isn't making any sense. We have been receiving emails sporadically since last night. Where earlier in the day yesterday, we were receiving bounce back e-mails. Now we are not. All emails sent from our third party accounts are being sent successfully, but we aren't necessarily receiving all of them.
Yes, in theory. There is a certain amount of RAM that your hardware will be mapped too, your OS will have the rest.
I'm on it! The new SSD hasn't arrived, so will try to sort this on the current Mavericks machine
Thanks so much.. It worked! unfortunately I'm unable to upvote I think (cause I'm new and it's refusing my vote?). Thanks to others who attempted my (initially) poorly written question
This doesn't really answer the question. I would be surprised if there was a public website hosted on a router and even more surprised if the login page was cached anywhere.
[SARDU Multiboot creator](http://www.sarducd.it/index.html) can do this, but it's somewhat complex to use. The free version should do what you want. As a side note, why not just put them on the usb stick one by one, and install one after the other ? Might be easier.
So you solved the counting, and want us to tell you how to replace the periods?
Hi Aldiandya, welcome on Super User. Please take some moments to read the page [ask]. What have you tried and where are your difficulties? Btw usually routers are configured to have the page that allows to modify the settings, accessible only from a wired connection from the "internal" network, for security reasons... In few cases that page can be accessed only from a single specific (physical) port. Feel you free to [edit] your question adding some other details.
Doesn't seem *totally* outrageous to me if the file system is large. Just how large a file system are you creating? How are you measuring the memory usage? Please [edit].
The 216.58.194.100 is just the IP for google's server. Honestly, I'm not too sure what pages are and aren't cached, but google's wayback machine has a ton of cached pages. In addition, sometimes when you visit a webpage a lot, even if your computer isn't connected to the internet, it's able to display a cached version of the page that you visit so often. Geolocation of google's server: https://ipinfo.io/216.58.194.100
There is a style for followed hyperlink, this has been answered [**here**](https://superuser.com/questions/144943/what-is-the-style-used-for-visited-hyperlink-in-ms-word).
Did the original question not ask for a way to switch to a **specific** tab (rather than to next or previous tab)?
what is a *module's path hierarchy*?
Did the original question not ask for a way to switch to a **specific** tab (rather than to next or previous tab)?
This is quitte useful for me, as what I would like to align to the bottom is a table. However it has a preceeding title-like non-table-row paragraph before it. Do you have any suggestion how can I align that table with that paragraph before it? I would not like to use textboxes either. I wanted to use Vertical alignment with Word 2016, but that would stretch the table of contents before it.
@jlliagre ZFS is a bit of a special case as far as file systems go, because it does much more than most file systems. It would be more accurate, in this case, to compare ZFS to a volume manager than to a file system. A RAID controller generally doesn't need pre-created partitions either, and we don't really question that aspect of its operation; we just take for granted that we can give a RAID controller a bunch of raw disks and it'll magically do its thing.
@Unnameduser: each of these sites can cache only the pages that are accessible to the robot, seldom even the ones that should be excluded (it is not legal but it is not this the point). _Probably_ the OP is asking how to access to a router of another LAN when you are not physically connected to that LAN. Look at the tag excerpt of `kali-linux` to have an idea about the aim. `;-)`. Now if my guess is right, the OP refers to the login page that allow to modify the router settings, that is not accessible from outside the LAN in a _normal_ way... That page cannot be cached from google et al..
@EvenSøsveen in my experience most such are Clevo machines. I'm a big fan; the build quality is usually excellent. In any case, their keyboards don't usually have a Fn-lock key or combo.
I believe this is handled by a shell extension implementing the **GetInfoTip** command but I don't it's realistically possible to call it outside of Explorer without a lot of work.
I usually change the paragraph spacing for individual paragraph for spacing, as inserting paragraphs have less control over the content. However, I would love to use dynamic spacing between paragraphs, something like `\vskip # plus # minus #` in plain-TeX. I don't assume the newest version have something like that yet?
thanks, simple and quick to implement. I have one question, would the random values be recalculated each time I open the spreadsheet? And if so, any ways to resolve this
That's not normal, seems to be a problem with NTFS or the hardware. Start by running `chkdsk` against the volume in question.
@Prasanna Looking for a simple and fast visualization of some csv data which I have prepared, using excel's conditional formatting
one filesystem on 500GiB drive. I'm afraid of running out of memory. I wonder if I can somehow cut the memory usage. 150-200MiB is a lot if system I'm running got only 512MiB where ~100 is required by Linux that runs everything there.
why do you need cmd to run it ?
Check the MSI website for any BIOS or driver updates. Install all Windows updates as well. If that doesn't resolve this, and this is a new laptop under warranty, you should contact the manufacturer.
It's a Cisco EPC 3925 Ziggo router.
To back up your claim, do you have any reference to this being how to reset this laptop?
Is this an example of using GetInfoTip to pull out the info from C++? https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb761357%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396 and is this an example in Python? http://blog.gmane.org/gmane.comp.python.windows/month=20090501/page=4 I want to know I am pointed in the right direction since I don't know much C++ or python.
It could be informative to connect using the network when it has a dark screen (such as teamviewer). If your screen stays black but you can connect via the network, you can see if any settings have changed.
@Hastur Thanks for clarifying!
Based on what you've provided, it might not be due to the encoding. Inside a batch file you need to use double `%%` instead of a single `%` when referencing variables. See [What does the percent sign (% and %%) in a batch file argument mean?](http://superuser.com/questions/670992/what-does-the-percent-sign-and-in-a-batch-file-argument-mean)...
...and an example of the same problem, from the other way around: [FOR/DO command gives “Was unexpected at this time” when run from command prompt](http://superuser.com/questions/894475/for-do-command-gives-was-unexpected-at-this-time-when-run-from-command-prompt)
yes :)...thats the answer. Would you please add it as an answer and il tick it as correct
@MichaelKjörling ZFS is indeed also a volume manager but my point was it obsoleted the requirement for partitions in the first place. There are no internal partitions with ZFS as all file systems share the same pool space. It uses the disk just like the system uses RAM, without predefined areas where data will be stored depending on some constraint.
@MichaelKjörling I'm running free in ~1s intervals than take top value and subtract it with os memory usage which is somewhat stable. +- 5-10MiB doesn't make much difference in this case.
This is a little too broad to know exactly what to have you do. Sounds specific to Windows 10 though, so I'd suggest you first verify the computer is clean of viruses and malware. Then follow the steps in this Microsoft Support article to see if it resolves the issue - [Fix network connection issues](http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/fix-network-connection-issues) (yes, I realize you have already done some of it). Update your question if it still is having issues.
Are "Sticky Keys" what you are looking for? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sticky_keys
Unfortunately not, they are about implementing the function in a shell extension. Something like this might be relevant though: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5721700/call-windows-explorer-shell-extension.
I've already tried all the things listed on that page incidentally. I realize my question is broad but I'm looking for any test I can try that I haven't already.

Thanks again! Just to be clear, if testdisk recognizes that my poor microSD drive is only 255MB in size, there's not much I can do to recover the full 16GB?
This will set all followed hyperlinks to one specific color or font setting. The OP wants to preserve several different original styles (one link in red italics and one in green bold). See my answer trying to address this requirement.
Well Both if possible. I hand jammed those numbers in to demonstrate the outcome I'm looking for.
Good point @Atzmon, thanks.
It literally needs to go thru every update each time it looks for new ones, Windows update is not designed to be efficient, it only uses one core and most of the time it uses all of it
That fixes it and X11Forwarding continues to work, yay :-D Thanks Jakuje!
Oh and the count is in hex so after the numbers... 0a, 0b.... u get the rest.
What about malware? All Windows Updates installed? You can try running `sfc /scannow` from an elevated command prompt. Also, you can go to `msconfig` and disable startup items to see if it works then. If it does, start enabling items one at a time until you find what is causing the issue.
I think there is some missing consideration about raw host hard disk, that is the virtual guest using a "physical" hard disk (or RAID device) as seen from the host. This would allow for better performances than using a simulated drive over a filesystem.
You're asking wrong question. The real one is: how to extend WiFi coverage? And the answer is "get a repeater".
Fedora 24 is still unreleased and in testing. If you find some problem, feel free to fill a bug or get in touch with developers or Fedora QA to get it resolved, before the final version lands.
It's more related to the fragmentation of the guest file system than to the format itself.
This antenna is not meant for base stations. It's for desktop PCs, so you can use a WiFi card in the back, but move the antenna to the front. Basically to stop the PC from blocking itself. Routers are small enough that you can move the whole thing to best location.
This is the way the client is implemented
Question: I did also buy new windows 7 upgrade licence. Is it now possible to activate windows 10 with this new hardware and with this new windows 7 licence?
Yeah, I wasn't attached to using Microsoft Word specifically. I tried poking around in PowerPoint but had not thought of using animations. This should do the trick for what I was trying to accomplish, thank you!
you're very welcome. If this has helped you, please upvote and/or accept this answer so that it can help others in a similar situation too.
while this worked for a certain piece of code I ran it only displays an empty console after running other code, and in some cases does not work. I'll keep in mind what you said about this being normal for console applications but keep question running in case of other solution.
You are making sure to put this line after your relevant code right? What it does is wait for the user to enter any number of characters and hit enter. If you do this before your code, it will wait, get your enter key, run your code and close again.
I have looked there too, but didn't find anything that looks like what you need. Maybe Windows Update will be able to find it? It usually handles drivers quite well, I'd give it a try. Just install all available updates.[SWUpdate](http://orcaservice.samsungmobile.com/SWUpdate.aspx) may work too.
yes I did try before and after code. I thought after code was most appropriate though
I agree that using "empty" paragraphs isn't a very good method-but through Word 2010 I haven't found anything better. I haven't worked with any newer versions, so I'm not sure if there's a better alternative now. I've considered learning latex as an alternative, but for the amount of documents that I do, it's been more effective to bend Word a little rather than learn an all new system.
The OP wants to preserve multiple different styles (one link in red italics and one in green bold) and the answer in your link doesn't solve this. See my answer below trying to address this requirement.
I *love* when people downvote the correct answer and dont leave a comment as to why they think its wrong.
@user3126592 No problem. If you think I helped please upvote my post.

Does the time feature have to be automated? and assuming you want a long forgettable password that you can't remember i figure you want the application or whatever to remind you what the password is once x amount of time has ended?
This is **not** an answer to the original question. If you have a new question please [ask your own question](http://superuser.com/questions/ask) (referencing this one for context if it helps).
exactly. I would like to be able to edit the time held for sure
I want to edit the time at the time I store. Once stored, uneditable.
Whaao! That was super amazing. I just searched settings and found peanuts! Thanks!
@DarkLink Glad I could help! Even if this was a 'comment' and not an 'answer', I'll settle for the term **'solution'**.
Seems to me like it would be easier to encrypt as usual, send it to storage and delete it, then send it back
@Enzo: I use VMDK on a raw block device now. The big catch is that VirtualBox needs to run as root. Also, snapshots aren't supported on raw disks, but I have a third-party snapshotting system (ZFS). VMDK on a raw disk is also a lot less portable. As for performance, I don't have any solid benchmarks, but I don't have complaints either.
Rather than enabling X11 forwarding for all hosts, why not enable it selectively in a host section?
The commands above wont work because touch creates a file rather than a directory. You need to do the bind mount from Android shell before you chroot into your Ubuntu chroot. `mkdir chroot/dev; mount -o bind /dev /chroot/dev` works fine for me in lollipop. However, having /dev/ashmem accessible in your Ubuntu chroot isn't going to help. PostgresSQL is looking for Posix shared memory (/dev/shm).
Depends on your version http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7710191/getting-messageid-from-email-in-outlook-vba-2003
If the missing partition is recovered successfully using `testdisk` you can found the 16 GiB. If doesn't you will recive `The following partitions can't be recovered:`
Was your [other question](http://superuser.com/questions/1083082/division-formula-in-excel) answered?
What command are you running that fails?
Thanks for the suggestion. Considering the layout of the apartment, how many wifi extenders should I buy?
Just for readability purposes I usually script it like this: `(echo n; echo p; echo 3; echo; echo; echo 5; echo 8e; echo w) | fdisk /dev/sda` Its not an ideal solution, but I find it clearer than the alternatives.
You could try just one out and see if it gives you what you want. I'd probably put it along that left side so that it can "see" the signal and then beam it out to everyone else. I've never really used one myself.
While that may work, I found what I was looking for. It's an easier solution. Tables of contents show text from elsewhere in the document. By default, text styled as H1, H2, and H3. But they can be configured to show arbitrary styles. And you can have multiple TOCs - for example, one for "To Do" items and one for "Incomplete" items. This shows how it's done: http://www.techrepublic.com/article/use-a-custom-style-to-annotate-a-word-table-of-contents/
Well written answer, thanks. Can you explain what `ogen` means?
It refers to the exact same thing as your formula did when it was put in B1. Were you pressing ctrl+shift+enter. Excel should add curly brackets around your formula when you do this. And the formula I gave you changes every 16 rows.
I see VLAN headers. That might be important. Please edit your question to include details of your VLAN setup.
well I can't try if it is working or not, but thanks
Added a picture to show the original array formula working.
Well, no matter how you look at it, WHM (WebHost Manager?) seems to be malfunctioning *ever so slightly*. Are you yourself responsible for the management software (not “instance”) deployment?
Hi Ben, the results of your research apply to virtual consoles while your problem is in relation to Konsole which is a terminal emulator that runs as an X-windows application. See https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/4126/what-is-the-exact-difference-between-a-terminal-a-shell-a-tty-and-a-con , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_emulator and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_console
My initial hunch is that the client is not flooding the network, but that two or more of your "routers" (technically acting as switches, not routers in this case) are misbehaving and reforwarding this multicast back onto the segment it came in on, ping-ponging it back and forth forever.
No, the partitions were gone. I tried elsewhere and came across an item that suggested STORAGE under Disk Management after very little fooling around I got it formatted. The bad news that it was assigned a new drive letter. I don't really care. So the issue is resolved. Joshua Nurczyk .
+1 This is an amazing answer... I had this problem for months thinking it was a Chrome bug but this was it... on normal pages it's easy to understand if you accidentally aren't in 100% but on images it's very hard to understand. Of course the accepted answer also works because it resets everything but this should be the accepted answer.
How exactly can I do this: _"Get it to send you a cryptographic key or to send you the password at a time that is programmed in the future."_
For those who are looking for a one liner : [ "$(ls -A ./path/to/dir)" ] && echo 'NOT EMPTY' || echo 'EMPTY'
It would probably be cheaper and more useful to install a 50' cable along the baseboard(s) that runs around the concrete over next to the first computer. Disable wifi on the modem.router combo and install an inexpensive WIFI router configured as an access point. (option 2 above). All of your primary use-case for wifi is in that corner, the wifi radio ought be there a well.
Thank you! I changed the font in Konsole and fixed the problem. Appearently this is a bug (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=215937), but some fonts are not affected.
the files are windows Outlook 2007 files which I drag from outlook into a windows folder to store. The files will be plain/html and will have attachments being saved as emails.
@Yorik Can I hijack your comment and add it to my answer?
@DanielB Not _really_, this is a Cloud VPS through a hosting provider. (A Small Orange.) I can definitely shoot them an email, but this is a personal/low-priority server so I was just hoping to learn a bit and see if I couldn't diagnose or resolve the issue on my own. I do have root access to the WHM web interface, but I don't know if that necessarily grants me the ability to upgrade the WHM software itself.
Of course: just trying to expand on your information rather than add my own answer.
Have you tried the latest BIOS and with defaults? Some people were reporting 20 degrees decrease also with asus z170 boards.
Can you share an example? Edit to remove confidential information.
The displayed value is rounded and displayed as allowed by the cell's formating. The actual value may carry many more digits beyond the decimal point. The actual value is used formulas in other cells, not the displayed value.
I have the latest GA BIOS (1702 I think) and everything is default -including turbo mode on- which seems to cause the issue. If a new BIOS comes along ill try that.

Do you have any restore points you can try? In case you have a broken Windows Update ...
I could probably do that as well
I'll check for a restore point later. Unfortunately it's bed time now.
`ask-become-pass` works. The whole command I use now is `ansible-playbook -i hosts site.yml --user admin --ask-pass --become --ask-become-pass`
@Mokubai So even upping the voltage won't help stabilise it?
You can always listen but if you receive something on that server from the internet then teh router is doing port forwarding, and if your router claims it isn't forwarding then something strange is going on 'cos it is. The issue might be specific to some weirdness with your model of router in terms of what it's showing you and whether what it is showing you is up to date information as to whether it's forwarding or not
Do you need it to be 100% secure or would it be ok if it were discoverable if someone knew what they were looking for?
Why the cmder and nircmd tags?
How do you test it? Are you sure the traffic you're seeing is not local?
Are you the VPN administrator?
Using the Watchguard SSL VPN Client
It seems strange that they'd change this basic functionality and force you to select via a menu, rather than be able to indent it via the tab key (because presumably you would want all your bullets and sub bullets aligned).
Hmmm... any chance of disabling it somehow, maybe in the bios? I have not researched your particular HW setup, so I don't know if that would *totally* strip your graphics support, rendering it unable to boot/display, or merely cripple it, making everything "less pretty" but still visible. For example, I think [the i5 has a built-in GPU](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i5_microprocessors), it's just that you have a better one that is preferably used (by default).
What OS are you using?
The application itself can use shared buffers, but the kernel will have a separate outbound buffer for each connection that holds unacknowleged data. If memory is tight, you can shrink the size of the kernel's buffering and do more of the buffering in the application, where you can implement buffer sharing. TCP throughput may suffer a bit, but that might not be that important depending on your use case.
Worked perfectly on Windows 7 64-bit !
URL is no longer correct
using the macro approach, name a cell update and use it to decide when it needs to work. If going with the formula, then it is more tricky. Instead of the builtin rand function you will need to make your own psuedo-random (assume have a cell named seed, a cell named Pcode, and another named step) =+IF(ROW()=2,seed,MOD(step+B1,PCode)) This allows you to recreate the exact "random" configuration again by setting the same seed, step, and PCode.
Glad you got it sorted. It might be worth writing that as a self-answer, accepting it and then editing your question to remove the console-related research. That way other users with the same issue could find this question-and-answer and benefit from it.
Define "short".
I think the OP is asking about them both using the same session on C at once? PS: I didn't down-vote your answer tho, as it's a plausible answer, but I think we need more info from the OP.
Do they want to be in the same session on C (i.e. looking at the same desktop, seeing each other's actions, etc.) or each in their own session? Which OSs are involved? What have you considered already, and why didn't they fit the bill?
Not all VPNs hide your IP correctly.
As the answer points out, a popular option is to install `cygwin` with `X11` support.
Works for my laptop. It's not marked like the other `Fn` keys... weird.
@Rooxie this is a bug, which is now fixed by Microsoft. try this new update or wait for the next patchday to get it

Thanks! I've tried this already, and (for reasons unbeknownst to me) the text changes black once the link has been followed, but it refuses to let me change the color after that. I just fiddled around with it again and it seemed to work.... sometimes lol. But thank you for your answer, I think this is the route I'll take.
Opening a file changes the iTerm2 font?
Don't understand your point, @Tyson . The value in the table is no longer a formula, but a value. And I made sure to show all of its digits. But just to check, comparing these values in a blank cell "=C7=D14" ([table cell] = [lookup cell 1]) and "=C7=D15" ([table cell] = [lookup cell 2]) and "=D14=D15" ([lookup cell 1] = [lookup cell 2]) returns true for all cases. So it's can't be a value issue, if Excel confirms that all 3 values are equal.
"*Windows 10 says it is upgrading on my laptop to Windows 10*"? Do you mean your current version of Windows has indicated it is downloading Windows 10?
your user `webadm` has `uid=0`? That is suspicious.
Thanks but this do not explain why it works less with no port forwarded. For example, using Soulseek : I get some search results if port is not forwarded. And I get a lot more search results if the port is forwarded. What do make a search result successful with non-port-fwd, and another only successful when port-fwd is on ?

Yes. But that doesn't solve the problem of separation. The graph is separated in to two parts. One with depth on the right and rip-rap diameter (not seen in the picture) to the left. I want to know how that can be achieved.
No need to be 100 percent. As long as the average user couldn't hack it without at least a couple hours of research.
Sorry I wasn't helpful
I think you're on the right track, but I still can't pinpoint the code that writes the file when the NIC is swapped. I've added notes for RHEL5 that might help.
I have exactly the same problem, but with Windows 10 Home. What is strange is that this update appeared after restarting windows in order to install regular updates (The KBs you can see in the screenshot above). This Windows Update, however, was not listed before the restart. Also the update seems to be an old one (Nov 2015).
I'll can do a test for both onboot and nm_manager the way I described. I can take a look shortly. Udev is the program that manages that, and how I showed you is the proper way to configure it. The actual script is in a udev directory. I wouldn't recommend modifying the udev program itself as the changes you make will likely break with an upgrade.
Welcome to Super User. Please be aware you have posted an answer to a question that is very old. Although there is nothing wrong with doing so, just be aware you may not get a response.

Thanks for figuring it out! The only unknown left now is how exactly the "random number" of the first line relates to a point in time.
Yes, it is possible, however please note that [SU] is not a script writing service. If you tell us what you have tried so far (including any scripts you are using) and where you are stuck then we can try to help with specific problems. You should also read [How do I ask a good question?](http://superuser.com/help/how-to-ask).
This hits the internet (with encryption) and uses a third-party solution, even though Ditto natively supports sharing your clips over a LAN. There is also the possibility of a DropBox sync conflict if you copy a file to the clipboard on both machines simultaneously.
Have you got a backend that's not releasing resources correctly and holding the connections open?
Once you do this on all machines you want sharing clipboard data, Ditto will automatically synchronize them for you from then on. You'll want to make sure Ditto is on your firewall exceptions list for Private networks.
Well you should definitely contact support. The issue you’re experiencing seems benign, but who knows what else is going on.
This shares specific clips, not the clipboard as a whole. The Friends tab is the ideal method for syncing Ditto between computers.
I think this question boils down to whether or not Parallels on Mac exposes all of the Mac's underlying cores to the guest OS. I would be surprised if it didn't. I'm curious: does Office for Mac really do a poor job of making use of multiple cores? Is Office for Windows really better in that regard? What kind of performance problems were you seeing with Office for Mac that made you look into core utilization? I wonder if there might be other ways to solve your performance concerns rather than running Office for Windows inside Parallels.

@DavidPostill well the ugrade is done periodically, but reinstall now is a huge task
That's interesting. The cable calculator I linked in my answer ( http://www.timesmicrowave.com/calculator/?productId=125&frequency=1500&runLength=15&mode=calculate#form ) says that RG174 isn't even rated for anything above 1500 MHz. But at 1500 Mhz it says that 15 feet would loss of 5.1 dB. Loss increases with frequency, so... looks like TP-LINK didn't make the best choice there.
What do the logs say?
The advanced field affects the output stream, and will not affect the input stream (which is what you want to modify). You might want to check out some alternative front-ends for Handbrake, there may be an alternative that meets your needs.
@Farzad64 why are you pinging me? I'm just the editor of the post
well I am trying to improve the question
That depends on how bad the original location was. If the antenna from behind a "tower" PC that's shoved into a corner, yes, you're probably right... but then you don't need the 15 feet of cable this thing comes with, let alone more.
@ClassStacker: not working without `~/` either. @Isaac Hanson, not without `sudo` either.
BugAlert is asking about this feature — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IP__mFL7d4 And it drives me nuts too, that Windows does not have this. It should be SO EASY. Sure, this is 5 years later, but it STILL doesnt exist.
@Agent_L At least in my experience, most WiFi repeaters are pretty terrible. You're way better off using additional wired access points, often that's so even if you have to wire them through the powerline. But I definitely agree about positioning routers or access points -- try to put them where you want them, extending the Ethernet to them if needed.
@John Then your diagram is wrong since it shows all the routers connected directly to each other with no intermediary switches, which typically only occurs at provider boundaries.
AFAIK No. Windows only prevents sleep if a process is in full-screen mode (video, game) or if its sharing media over the network, even if the user clicks something or not. I need to remove these restrictions.
@Jamie Hanrahan Of course it's not a good choice when losses are the main criterion, but when judging the best choice, entire system design needs to be taken into account. With shipped 1.3 m (or let's say around 4.3 feet for the calculator), the losses are around 2 dB. Antenna has gain of 5 dBi. If we replace a say 0 dBi stock antenna with this, we'll still have a bit of improvement. Even more can be obtained if we manage to say place the antenna at a location where it won't be in a fade.
Can you edit your question to be very clear about which box is which, and what ports and IPs are involved? Is your Fedora 23 Linux box also your router, or is it just the Transmission client box sitting behind some other, as-yet-unspecified router? What ports did you forward and to what IP:Port pairs did you forward them to? What is this "firewall gui app you can download through the software manager" — Is it safe to assume it's something that adjusts the "personal firewall"/"software firewall" running on the Fedora host? Did you try turning off the Fedora box's local firewall all together?
"Enter in the new user's credentials and the software will now be licensed under their ID"- you mean enter the retail license? I want to use a retail license so any user that logs into the computer can use office- I don't want the license attached to specific user account, but be system wide.
Extra gain can also come from proper separation of antennas inside of an array used in modern standards. Quite often, home routers are too small to have good enough separation, so spatial multiplexing and spatial redundancy don't really work as good as they could. With proper spacing, we could maybe get one or two decibells of improvement. Then, there's the bottom line: Would the average consumer be able to recognize that a more expensive antenna is more expensive due to reasonable quality cable and would this justify increased price? Given how many people use WiFi, I'd say not really.
Telling us it doesn't work isn't helpful. What specifically did it do or not do?
This would probably be more on topic on Superuser SE.
You probably need to look at your GRUB settings. However, running Kali in addition to another OS can be dangerous. By design, Kali runs as root, which means that it's relatively easy to accidentally perform actions which damage the other OS. I would recommend either having a dedicated Kali system, or running it in a virtual machine within another OS, to ensure that any damage is limited to the Kali instance. This is even more important if investigating any potentially malware infested sites - it's not unheard of for malware authors to target Kali users. It should not be used as a day-to-day OS
Actually this question is related with Kali-Linux that's why I think this is the place to put my query. @WorseDoughnut
@AnkitGupta This issue is not in any way related to information security. Just because it occurred on Kali doesn't change that this is simply a Linux issue that should have been asked on the SE designed for that.
There's a Joomla site, which has been there for around 3 years and 2 wordpress sites: 1 from 4 years ago and 1 since a couple days ago. The Joomla site was not touched since it was setup, and the WP sites are always up to date with everything. and latest. If tehre would have been a bug introduced in WP about a year ago, I expect it to had been fixed till now. So I don't think it;s related to the sites. There's also a named running for about 3 years, also not touched since set up. Nothing else is public.
I do think the problem is in or around apache since at freeze time, at least on the screenshot, there are many processes of it (50 maybe more), and during normal operation there are only 10 or around it. I'm currently reading up on how to debug apache so I can see what the child processes are doing because the access and error logs don't show much.
Try bridged mode only
I mentioned what I did! Set encapsulation on second modem as Bridged mode and DHCP:Disabled and connect two modems via LAN port. Even second modem does not detected via network!

I already described that office for Mac uses single core which means it will perform less efficient in comparison to Windows version. Performance issues when saving file, filtering large work sheet. Inserting column etc. I am wondering as well what could be alternative solution?

@Spiff, there is no VLAN in this setup. I don't know if the device is automatically tagging the packets with the VLAN tags. This is what I see for the tags though:
`802.1Q Virtual LAN, PRI: 6, CFI: 0, ID: 1
110. .... .... .... = Priority: Voice, < 10ms latency and jitter (6)
...0 .... .... .... = CFI: Canonical (0)
.... 0000 0000 0001 = ID: 1
Type: IPv4 (0x0800)
Padding: 0000
Trailer: 00000000`
Thanks, I've pressed every Fkey during bootup and get a very dos looking text menu with 4 selections, Memory test, two other things that I don't care about and Exit. I'll play some more with it.
Short answer: It depends. Your question is too broad. Please be more specific.
It would appear, not yet confirmed, that I was the target of a DoS attack, coming from some russian IP (server being in Romania, not paranoid, I've been attacked by russians before all this NATO s*t).
That would explain it.
How I cam to the partial explanation: I setup mod_status and I was shown a lot of POST requests from the same IP on the wp_login page. Since it is my own personal blog that I use by myself, that raised a red flag. SO I simply iptable DROPed the said IP and the server relaxed. If this is a target attack, I expect another IP to soon replace the banned one, as soon as the guy at the other end figures out he got caught. I'm saying that since all the previous attacks on me were from botnets and I could see the huge amount of requests with netstat, unlike this time, so it must be a lonely scriptkid
well, the question isn't bound to one software. I updated the question with operating system specifics.
@Abdull In `rsyncd.conf` you can define *modules*, which are the way that rsyncd makes part of the filesystem available. Each module has a path. Say I define the module `[local]` with the path `/usr/local`. Using `[local]` you can write to e.g. `/usr/local/bin`, but not to `/usr/bin`.
You might want to talk to your ISP/hosting provider to see if there is something they can do to help. Explain that you are under a DDoS attack.
This should be portable: `mkdir -p "$path" && cp -R somedir/* "$path"`
Filtering could be CPU-bound, but saving a file and inserting a column don't strike me as CPU intensive. Saving a file is more likely to be I/O-bound.
Chrome Sync has been behaving very erratically the last 2 weeks. In my case, my bookmarks are not sync-ing across devices.

You won't be able to, if your router doesn't even give you a way to flash the firmware, you can't flash the firmware.
It being not specifically about a particular piece of software is the reason it's broad. Your question even with the edit is still to broad to answer.
As the answer given indicates, yes this is safe. If you plan on doing it all the time, you may want to consider using hibernation instead of hybrid sleep.
My router provides a way to flash new frimware but the problem is i dont know zhat toflash or even how to flash
You find custom firmware for the router, the using the web interface, you upload the firmware. If you can't find the firmware from DD-WRT or OpenWRT it likely doesn't exist.
Because windows 8 does not do a full shutdown, it does a hybrid shutdown, so on restart it boots from the hiberfil.sys file and bypasses the bios routine. You can remove the drive and delete the hiberfil.sys file from the root of the drive, put it back in and you should be able to access the bios now.
@Anthony Sims, I updated my response to include some additional troubleshooting information.
Yes thats it i couldnt find the right frimware beacause my router is signed to a specific carrier unlike netgar and linksys and much more .. My router's hardware huawei and the carrier is Orange
So custom firmware doesn't not exist because the current firmware will only accept signed firmware, there is your answer, to your question
So i cant flash frimware like dd-wrt?
"You think good" is broken English; that by itself; warrants a downvote. I even question if the second sentence is even a sentence....Answers with broken English, non-sourced answers, are legitimacy reasons not to find an answer helpful. "Windows 7 Ultimate installations are upgraded to Windows 10 Professional" is a single sentence; Just saying....
You literally just said you can't....you confirmed based on the answers you just provided to my follow up question, that the firmware will not let you upload any firmware that isn't from your ISP; I have doubts the interface you have access to even has the option to upload firmware; most modem gateways do not which is what you have
All the updates that Windows Update has pestered me about have been installed.
Most modern routers have an HTML interface, and this allows you to set the parameters needed for the appropriate mode. For bridge mode, you should be able to set the SSID and password, and this should then get access for its subnet. You should experiment with connecting to your home router until you are sure of the configuration before going away and hoping to set it up there.

Disable hibernation in Windows 10.
What is the make and model of your router? Only certain routers can be flashed with [DD-WRT](http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices). You might look at Tomato firmware if your router supports it. Usually ISP routers will not support flashing because they are not high quality and you have to purchase a higher quality router yourself.
Do you have a multimeter? I would check the voltages coming from the USB 3.0 port and see if there are any different from your other ports.
I have also updated my question to suit your response.
@Mokubai. Sorry for the late reply. The old PC has a 4+4 pin connector, but was only connected by a 4 pin cable.
I had another look inside my old PC. It was indeed connected with a 4 pin cable, despite having a 4+4 pin connector. I must've been confused, sorry.
Is that version of Trend compatible with Windows 10?
@NetworkKingPin. No, I don't have one. Besides, I can't even turn the PC on anymore, not even with another PSU, so I'm not sure if a multimeter would help.
Your missing a step per the duplicate question's answer
Sounds like you used a poor quality USB 3.1 Type C cable and you caused physical damage to the port, how much damage that extremely poor quality cable can do, depends on the design of the motherboard and the port's connection to the motherboard. Could be the motherboard or the CPU at this point, throw that cable away, or verify its reviewed by that google Engineer who has found hundreds of bad Type c 3.1 cables

This does not answer the question, please don't post your own questions, as an answer to a question. Don't worry the proper thing will happen to this answer, it will be deleted, allowing you a chance to install the patch that fixes this problem
Open the page in Acrobat Pro, and then use the Object Inspector, which is part of the Print Production tools.
Yes I was thinking about that. The i5 has integrated intel gpu, but dell does not give up the option for my model to switch between both. Tried to research how to bypass the temp sensors, but no luck.. I can't even underclock it haha !! .. I think I have no other option but to raise a white flag
Copy a cell with formatting you want, paste-special, formatting only, to all desired cells. There is a detection script, but that would be a VB script solution and "script writing service" is frowned upon.
Yes that happened to me. I was installing a program and like a dummy I gave it "administrative" privileges. I restarted my PC in safe mode with networking. Then opened programs and searched for programs installed on that day and uninstalled them all. You can look up their processes in Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del) and kill tree. Then ran full drive checks with Security Essentials and another with the free Malware Bytes program (full scan on both, but do UPDATES first to get all current definitions of threats). Then let both programs delete all the bad files. Restarted and the problem was solved.
If you're concerened about security updates, you would have changed the OS by now. Because MS droped support for XP long time ago.
In my current laptop, I've BrightView HD LED Backlit display. Everything is fine except the color intensity is low. What I mean is that when I see an image in my laptop, it is seems less colorful but if I see the same image in most of other new laptops of my friends, it shows better color intensity.
Sorry about the delay in getting back. The solution above has completely solved the issue and I no longer get the application error message. Thank you!
According to Trend Micro, yes
I believe these logs are kept in your router. Log into your router, they should be logged there.
My hunch is that it has got something to do with the receiving server, which is held by our ISP. They told me that their server was working double-time, and we thought maybe that was the reason. You just confirmed that it is a possibility. So Im not sure what to do at this point. We are on the phones. Thank you very much for the help.
"forwarding port 51413" or "forwarding on port 51413"?
That's perfect! And an explanation of WHY it was acting "so strangely". Thank you very much, that's just what I was looking for!
Thanks, but the -i flag doesn't make a difference: `remove ˇ¡␀␀ˇ¡␀␀? y; rm: ˇ¡␀␀ˇ¡␀␀: Invalid argument`

seems like it would be a better idea to output the text to a file, and copy it into the clipboard from there, rather than copying from the window.
You may try [Brave](https://brave.com/downloads.html), but it sounds like it's for for Windows 7+.
@JamieHanrahan umm the antenna comes with a 130cm cable according to the question and the ebay listing.

The Iceweasel project has been discontinued. Debian has gone to Firefox. Iceweasel ESR, previously bundled with Debian Stable, will be replaced with Firefox ESR (if this hasn't already happened, it will shortly when the previous ESR version is deprecated). Pocket is not open-source and was among the things stripped from Firefox to create Iceweasel.
All I can suggest is to uninstall it completely and reinstall.

@aaaaaa, updated. Thanks !!
It might be that the fan control is not activated properly by the `POST`
The fan is running at full speed, heat sink is clean and thermal paste is applied @Serge
@John That diagram shows physical devices by the names on their labels, which is what I thought you were doing.
hmm, then it sounds strange.
AFAIK it's only common that a "consumer-grade" router does not support being addressed from the LAN with its WAN side IP address (port forwarded or not). I have never seen "loopback issue" as what you've described.
Setting `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\NoWindowMinimizingShortcuts` to `1` in `regedit` might do the trick.
I just tested in [Google Sheets](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-5Tfg56G4kUOKM4LTUUr2JbfXCESEXBFmH7S-AyPidc/edit?usp=sharing) and the combination of functions work perfectly.
@DavidPostill Unfortunately, I only have one Windows 10 device, I have tried to sign in with a local account instead, and changed my theme settings, then sign in with my microsoft account again, it won't revert to my old theme settings
This does work!! Thanks @TheBiggerGuy. I tried converting a x264 file to x265 losslessly, and it worked. The file size of x265 came out to be larger, which was kind of a bummer, though not unexpected. I will accept your answer soon after a bit of further testing.
This isn't working for me... I have .txt pointing to txtfile, and txtfile has DefaultIcon set to "%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-102", but the icon for Notepad++ is still displayed on my text files because that's the program I chose for opening. I think `DefaultIcon` means "the icon we use if there is no program assigned".
How are Router A and Router B connected?
In mine (TeamViewer11 and prior versions) I found the relevant log in `/Library/Logs/TeamViewer/Connections_incoming.txt`
That worked perfectly, thank you!
Yes very, I am willing to give up the computer just to know a logical explanation for the problem. Haha!!
What model is your DeskJet and do you initiate the scan from it or from the computer?
Turn on view hidden files. Is there some kind of "free" encryption software that came with it? I noticed that some of my microSD cards come with hidden software packages. Since you bring it up that reminds me of discussions of "bloat ware" that came up in late computer science classes.
This happens if Default Programs or Open with was used for associating file types. This article should help in that case, covers both aspects. [How to Change the Default Icon for a File Type in Windows?](http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/change-default-icon-file-type-windows/) - or you can try FileTypesMan from Nirsoft.
It's been a while since I've had to use command line input and because I've only used certain Linux flavours in college, I'd have to suggest looking into "decompression" techniques because you are not just copying files. The files you are suggesting are zipped, so there should be some kind of command for that I suppose. I could be wrong, but maybe that line of logic would help. I have a feeling you will have to create a tmp folder for decompression. Good luck.
Please read the comments you already received here and in your other question before posting this same question elsewhere.
I know what ```source ~/.bashrc``` does; but what does ```[ -r ~/.bashrc ]``` do, and is it necessary?
Many thanks for pointing this out. I did not knew a reverse image search existed. The problem is 95% solved. I am left with only QQPCTray.exe showing in Notifications bar. A snapshot is here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1JJUfLfFwrLQXBkYV8yOUcxYUk/view?usp=sharing the tencent program has been uninstalled. I have manually deleted C:\Users\hp\AppData\Roaming\Tencent folder but I get to see QQPCTray in the notifications bar still.
Are you having the same problem with both PCs when it happens and have you tried using a different public IP to see if it could be firewall related?
Also works on Win 10
You're right. I'm not sure where "15 feet" came from!
Parallels does a pretty good job of handling cores evenly, whatever the underlying process thinks it's doing. 8 cores max on a standard user licence, all cores on a business licence. I use VMs for compiling, which makes them very neatly use as much of my Mac's real resources as the percentage of cores I give to the VM, & lets me get on with other work without hold-ups. ['cores' includes HT virtual cores]
Yes same problem with both PC and both PC are at completely different locations . One at my office and other at my home.
That seems more a genetic approach then a specific solution. Btw it can be useful too. ;)
Did you check your logs when you were able to connect to see if there was an indication of a problem with the SSH service? I'm also wondering if it could be related to the way you start the SSH service when it boots up. Of course we still can't rule out a firewall issue either even if the issue is from anywhere.
What is the computer's operating system?
@Olivier Yes the update is older but Microsoft releases updates with different cadence for different versions of Windows. For Enterprise version I guess they released that update just recently.
If you see "non-standard shell" printed out when using `chsh`, you will need to [update /etc/shells](http://stackoverflow.com/questions/453236/how-to-set-my-default-shell-on-mac#26321141).
You can also simply ask Google - search 'what's my IP address' & it will tell you, along with a list of sites that would also report it to you.
I don't think firewall can be an issue because I was able to connect from the same network same network(home) at the first time and there is no firewall at my home network . But yes it could be they way ssh service restart because I am just restarting ubuntu via EC2 console and not sure what is the status/how ssh service got restarted. Please suggest how can I dubug.
The first thing to check are the logs once you're able to get back in.
Your command should work fine. Please see my tested answer.
I know you can create your own layouts, I'm looking how to do this. Can you provide a picture/map of the layout PT PT ? Indeed I only see one Portuguese layout and few Brazilians.
I like MoCA. It is using tech similar to how cable TV internet gets to your house, but it works on your interior cable TV wiring (and does not interfere with whatever else is using that wiring). So anywhere you have a cable TV outlet, you can have Ethernet. You can usually find MoCA modems on eBay for $40 or so. Search su here for "moca" for more info - I did a big diagram for someone else's question.
apparently it's supposed to "just work" http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/news/comments/bluetooth-4.1-announced-as-free-u pdate-for-4.0-devices
I like MoCA. It is using tech similar to how cable TV internet gets to your house and back, but it works above 1 GHz (i.e. above the cable TV freqs) on your interior cable TV wiring (and does not interfere with whatever else is using that wiring). So anywhere you have a cable TV outlet, you can have Ethernet. You can usually find MoCA modems on eBay for $40 or so. if you delete the synced one from the dropbox web interface maybe it will delete it for you :)
No it doesn't unfortunately :(
it depends somwhat on wether those `␀` are `\u0000` or `\u2400`
It's virtual memory. You're confusing the address space size and what a running process actually uses.
if osx has `find` you could try `find -delete` from inside the recycle bin, `find -delete` is like `rm -r ./` so be careful
I could permanently delete the file on Dropbox' Web interface. But it does not disappear on my local machine. What does depend on the chart?
If the file can be deleted easily.
Actually I also tried find -delete but it didn't work either.

@Hastur It's exactly what happened to me. A program in Chinese installed a bunch of programs that started with QQ and other things. I tried killing the tasks but it didn't work, they kept popping up and installing more and more. The solution I provided solved it in a way that a technician would solve it. The next step would be to to initiate a recover point assuming one was initiated at an earlier date. I usually create a recovery point before installing any software I download over the internet; as a precaution for recovery.
try http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19444340/how-to-specify-syntax-highlighting-in-vi-editor
Thanks - I understand that, but I want to know the reason *why* it doesn't work. Is, for example, the BIOS hardcoded to only accept such boot information from CD drivers?
@lobi, I've added the commands. Hope they help you.
The rules are correct - what else changed?
The `subst` trick seems to work well, as long as the filename is not *so* long as to making it go over 260 characters even at the root of a drive.
That question and answer is about enabling syntax highlighting for certain file extensions. That already works for me in `mvim` no work needed. My question is about why `vi` isn't operating the same way.
Your question is unclear to me - I changed the wording to "terminal" - if that's incorrect please roll it back.
@matty: you are right, the original question mentions switching to a *specific* tab, but the question _title_ is more generic than that, so most people who found this question were just looking for a way to easily switch tabs with an easier shortcut than OSX provides by default.
@dinosaur: "-r" checks if the file is readable.
It should work natively with backwards compatibility but maybe your headphones require aptX or A2DP to function. You could always purchase a small, cheap USB Bluetooth adapter.
@sourcejedi Arch Linux ships with systemd 230. I finally managed to get my variable back. For some reason creating the variable via efivars resulted in `OsIndications-89efde67-ffcd-12de-ab01-01efff012389` which has a different GUID. Once I booted into [UEFI Shell](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Unified_Extensible_Firmware_Interface#UEFI_Shell), I invoked the command `setvar OsIndications -nv -bs -rt =0000000000000000` to set the OsIndications variable in non-volatile storage for bootservice and runtime access to the hexadecimal sequence representing a 64-bit number (0).
@ejbytes The way I read it, he is looking to change his `Ctrl` key to an `AltGr` key in way that AHK doesn't recognize his `Caps Lock` key as a `Ctrl` key, because he edited the registry to rebind it that way.
Yes, that is for a .dita extension.
There is really no other way. Without password means without password. You just have to properly secure the private key.
And did you try both without absolute path and super user rights? Is this a directory mounted from a file server? Which file systems are involved?
@TomYan: "loopback issue" ? I described ? No comprendo.
@w32sh beter, actually :p
`So what happens is that your computer tries to forward DNS queries to itself, but unfortunately by using its external IP address. A self-reference like this usually cannot work except via the loopback interface on IP 127.0.0.1 (localhost), which does not pass through the router.`
Thanks! Do you have similar information about SSD?
I wasn't the one who downvoted you, but in my case I had to set this in a share definition. I had set in global and it was ignored.
@ndemou the admin may have set the system up in such a way that any application including `init` thinks it's 32-bit: the situation for this is 64-bit kernel with 32-bit userspace. Many compilation systems depend on `uname -m` to determine compiler flags, e.g. that of GDB, they must be supplied with fake personality. But some other userspace application can still want to know what type of kernel it has (e.g. for some low-level needs), regardless of personality.
did you use google? http://www.onlinecomputertips.com/windows/print_notification.html
That displays a notification when something is sent to the printer, what I am looking for is something to tell me when the print job is finished
I don't have Mac but every shell I've ever seen does explicit (i.e. other than pipe) redirections in the order given, so you need `>output 2>&1`. Alternatively in bash you can use `&>output` or `>&output` to do both at once; see the man page.
I only use OSX in a Virtual Machine, my primary is Linux -- and every shell I've used works with both ways.
I just discovered that the Public\Desktop folder is still merged onto the users desktop. But only for the actual desktop, it does not merge in Windows Explorer.
For windows, [this extension](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/back-to-backspace/cldokedgmomhbifmiiogjjkgffhcbaec).
what is the os installed on the external hdd?
That's strange. It works without the quotes here.
Same result, unfortunately. It still says `Reslution: 72x72`. I noticed that the output of `identify -verbose bar.pdf` also shows: `Geometry: 595x842+0+0` and `Page geometry: 595x842+0+0` (both with your command as well as mine). Not sure what that means?
@MaxWyss Thanks, but unfortunately I don't have Acrobat.
Early 2011 MBP.
I'm sure you probably did this but did you echo out the path to ensure everything is set to what you expected? echo $PATH
What is the response to such a failing `cd` command? Are you sure you type a path that does indeed exist? When an absolute path is given to `cd`, `$PATH` is irrelevant.
@TomYan: Explain please what's wrong with this scenario, if the user did specify his WAN address as DNS server. AFAIK Windows doesn't check the IP address for "correctness" but tries it out and will use it if there is an answer.
The best elaborated answer seems to be this one: http://superuser.com/questions/547296/resizing-videos-with-ffmpeg-avconv-to-fit-into-static-sized-player/547406#547406 which adds black borders to the videos of different frame sizes to avoid stretching (i.e. avoid changing the aspect ratio of the videos).
any help guys ?
Are you using Windows, what version ? If so, there's options in the control panel > power management where you can set the time until the hard drive spins down when inactive.
it is not a new problem and cd doesn't work for every cd followed by a /
From your explanation I understand that the TCP congestion window is running on the application-level TCP buffer were this buffer is shared by all the the flows that initiated from the same application, such as all FTP flows share the same outgoing tcp buffer. Does this seem has a conflict with the concept that the kernel creates a tcp socket buffer for every tcp connection !!? Thank you
the terminal tell me -bash: cd: /htdocs/Monsite/dist: No such file or directory
@JonasCz I'm using Windows 10 I want to turn the mechanical drive off while working on SSD
I see, I marked your answer as good.
Does it work in other browsers or in Chrome incognito mode ?
@DLeh Using Ctrl key and scroll wheel will not make the font size of the tab title explode in size! It only affects the display of the document text, not GUI elements.
For your convenience, I published a version of the German keyboard layout without dead keys [on GitHub](https://github.com/RAnders00/Deutsch-ohne-Tottasten/releases) for you to download and install.
I tried quite a lot with my MBA mid 2011. most problems came with built in Intel HD 3000 graphics and integrated sound. for some unknown reasons the MBA behaved much better when installed with legacy BIOS emulation. But still some issues Wifi interface consuming too much CPU. Did you try clean EFI install with the latest Slow Ring Build?
It's not an answer to your question, but if you have some spare storage space, you could create a swap file and use that temporarily during memory-intensive operations. As for memory leaks being ruled out by the memory being freed when the program finishes, I'm not sure you can state that conclusively based on observing external behavior; any memory still held by a process that terminates is (supposed to be) automatically freed by the kernel. Memory allocations are tied to processes, so when the process ends, there is nothing left to claim the memory, hence it becomes available to others.
alexeit To mute VoiceOver while it's enabled, open the VoiceOver Utility app located in your Utilities folder (Applications > Utilities), then from the utility categories menu select Speech, and tick the Mute Speech checkbox.
Thanks for your reply... can u explain in details?
This kind of comparison questions often don't get much positive attention, unfortunately. There is a proposal for a Stack Exchange website dedicated to it http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/93761/software-comparisons
There's most likely be a max cable length, after which the delay is too much for the protocol to handle. USB handles about 5 meters, for example.
Does your image fit into A4 page this method or your method?
You have not answered this: "Are you sure you type a path that does indeed exist?" I really doubt there'd be a `htdocs` in the root directory. What does `ls /` say? I suspect you have a fundamental misunderstanding about the very basics of the directory structure.
I was curious about this conversation and did some man page reading. I successfully unlocked an account by changing the password (using _root_ of course). The point is however that if one is able to alter the password, the -L lock can be avoided. I think the shell thing is relevant if you want _backup_ .
This answer on another post might help you: [http://superuser.com/a/494709/401535](http://superuser.com/a/494709/401535) Make sure to use the registry keys for re-enabling.
Can't believe is not up-voted much as it should be! This is the most easy way (too easy!) when moving the VMs within the same OS. Successfully moved two VM from drive C to drive D. Mine is Win7 64bit with Virtualbox 5.x
@The_IT_Guy_You_Don't_Like It does not work in any browsers, and not on other devices either
How are you connected to internet ? It opens fine for us here so this could be your router at home. Try a proxy maybe
@The_IT_Guy_You_Don't_Like Works fine, do you have an idea on how to fix it?

@harrymc `if the user did specify his WAN address as DNS server` clearly he did not according to the two bullet points in the OP?
yaa connecting to internet
Instead of what you described, he could have set `Use 10.0.0.11 as primary DNS server, and 8.8.8.8 as secondary` in the Internet side setting instead of the LAN-side DHCP server setting though...
Please learn some basic browser commands. Right click > Save Image as works in Firefox. There are similar commands in other browsers.
suggest me any solution to this
Work yourself up from the `gnome-session[23495]: CRITICAL: We failed, but the fail whale is dead. Sorry....` line. It seems to suggest that the window manager Gala is crashing because the volume control has no PulseAudio context. It also doesn't seem able to load the File Chooser module. Consider to do a diff against a log from a working login to see how exactly it behaves different.
@AmanSingh I've edited the answer and added more clarification, including images. I hope this helps.
There doesn't appear to be a reason you are using the row number as your reference. Is there a reason? There are many ways to get a sequence of numbers, having a better understanding why you are doing this would help find the right one.
@TomYan: I still don't understand anything in what you say. I describe nothing except what happens when he did exactly what you claim he should have done, and it didn't work. Please delete your comments above since they are not constructive.
@BrunoBronosky There are some PowerShell equivalent for `mklink`, see [Powershell Hard and Soft Links](http://stackoverflow.com/a/894651), for example.
I'm kinda' a noob when it comes to X and audio and video, so, would you please "exactify" what you mean by `PulseAudio context` and I think I have an idea for the Gaia thing, but the file chooser module has been never loaded by any session.
@drumfire `ogen` is the subvolume's "origin generation". I have to admit that I do not fully understand the differences or whether using the (non-origin) generation would be correct, but assume some test indicated that this worked better (avoided duplication). The generation does seem to get updated when creating snapshots based on a subvolume, ogen doesn't. I would be interested in hearing about some findings. It's probably best to check on IRC or the Btrfs mailing list.
Unchecking `Use a different font for non-ASCII text.` made all the difference for me.
Why do you want to prevent those DNS queries from your clients? Just don't want to see them on your log-view of NxFilter GUI? Or you really want to block it? If it's the first one you can bypass logging for them on 'Whitelist > Domain'. Or you can set up a local DNS server for those domains to bypass them to your local DNS server.
Yes, I want to block DNS queries from windows client(goal is querie can't be reached on nxfilter) because getting too much queries of domain name(may be decrease performance of Nxfilter as well as windows machine).
Do you really experience a performance issue? We see many sites having more than sevral thousands users but they don't complain about the performance. Maybe you just need to bypass logging for them as NxFilter spends the biggest resource for logging.
Search mode 'Regular expression' should be selected. Then for '[' at the beginning of lines, you can write 'Find what' as '^' and 'replace with' as "[". Then for commas in between numbers - 'Find what ' can be [0-9]* and 'replace with' "$&,". For removing the trailing "," and adding "],", you can have 'Find what as ",$" and 'replace with' as "],".
I'm not sure, how do I check? By looking at the `identify -verbose` result, the Geometry doesn't like anything related to A4, and neither does the 72x72 resolution.
After the sequence is generated, get rid of the formula. Simply select and copy the data generated thru formula, and replace it with 'paste special values'
@AndrejaKo Note that 0 dBi is virtually unattainable. Every real-life antenna has a non-isotropic radiation pattern because no real-life antenna is a point radiation source, and every real-life antenna system has some degree of resistive loss, if nowhere else then in the connectors (insertion loss) and feedline (resistive loss), the latter being basically what this question is asking about. (On lower frequencies not relevant to WiFi, you also have to consider potential capacitive and reactive losses. See shortened HF antennas. On non-matched loads, also losses due to reflections on the cable.)
@Filip Haglund Do you actually have any sources for that? In traditional RF applications, usually what happens is that power at the end of the cable is too low to make useful connection or that received power is too low to be detected by the receiver. I haven't seen any WiFi documents that talk about dispersion inside of the cable or stuff like that before.
.Net Framework does not have a SHA-3 class, so Powershell, does not have it. As for theirs-party software, that might exist, it wouldn't be on topic for me recommend one so find them yourself
@Michael Kjörling I agree on the reality part! When I wrote 0 dBi, I was mostly thinking about average antenna gain. In such case, it's not actually all that uncommon to see antennas with 0 dBi or even lower average gain. See for example [this](http://productfinder.pulseeng.com/products/datasheets/W3008_W3008C.pdf) antenna with 0.7 dBi average gain (this is actually a device SMD antenna). I was also oversimplifying things by thinking of router as a device with no internal feed-line losses, while in reality we might have 10 cm or so feed-line on the inside as well.

Has the laptop ever booted from a CD/USB Drive?
Do you know on which layer is ISP specifying the 1 Mb/s speed? If it's layer 2, you could be getting the advertised speed from speedtest.
This is still a problem in windows 10! I have 3 monitors and I only use one 'here and there'... when I do, then stop using it, some open programs default to opening up on it. I have to do the win+left arrow to eventually get it back to the main monitor.
@AndrejaKo I have no idea about layers, my ISP never mentioned it
@Paul See my **EDIT#1**
`chcon` would not survive or persist if system ever does relabelling. So better use `semanage -fcontext` and then `restorecon`
@Wishwas See my **EDIT#1**
You asked this question once before [here](http://superuser.com/questions/1084265/why-dont-microsd-have-the-full-free-space-they-claim-to-have). Please be sure you do a proper amount of research and verify your question has not been asked before. Having multiple questions closed, and not well recieved, isn't good
Depends on what 'long range' means. It takes both the transmitter and a receiver to get the signal. If the signal is strong the receiver may be less than optimal. The further away you are the weaker the signal.
I wanted to install ubuntu on the external HDD. I figured out the way to boot from a flash drive instead of the external HDD. Now I am installing on to the external HDD, but when I restart the PC with only the HDD connected, it tells me there is no OS to load.
If you cannot read or diff log files, there is no point in trying to diagnose and fix this manually. You might as well just reinstall in that case. The line that I refer to is `** (process:23709): CRITICAL **: volume_control_set_volume_internal: assertion '_tmp1_ == PA_CONTEXT_READY' failed`
No, no no. You completely misunderstood me. The kernel runs the TCP congestion window using only its buffer, which cannot be shared. An application can use shared buffers if it wants to, but most don't.
I am using a fresh installation...
A fresh installation does not have multiple accounts.
I have my `/home/` partition separated, so my things can be kept safe in the event of a system upgrade. And I had debian installed then I switched to ElementaryOS
Do you have `ls` or `grep` aliased to something else?
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me because `somedir/*` is actually a path that looks like `/usr/local/bin/../share/foo/*`. For some reason with this path on OSX I get error `cp: /usr/local/bin/../share/foo/*: No such file or directory`. If I try with `/usr/local/share/foo/*` it works, but doesn't copy hidden files.
@DavidPostill, please see my edited question.
Possible duplicate of [Windows file copy dialog: Why is the estimation so... BAD?](http://superuser.com/questions/43562/windows-file-copy-dialog-why-is-the-estimation-so-bad)
Try removing the alias on `ls` and see if that fixes the problem ...
BTW, I know what you were referring to, but why does this only happen in this account?
Does the user in question have read and/or execute permission on the permissions of the `/var`, `/var/www`, and `/var/www/user` directories?
There is probably something different in its directory in /home/; as to what, that's hard to tell without further debugging, because just a warning or error in a log could be the result of various differences
Still same. I did not put backtick. I think it's the way that the system shows the result of `type`. After removing alias, I get the result of `type ls`: `ls is aliased to \`ls --color=tty'`. I don't know which script made this alias. not `.bashrc`, `.bash_profile`, `.profile`, nor `/etc/bashrc`
Hmm. Then there is still something modifying `ls`. A function maybe?
so it's not permanent ?, currently it's working i hope it will still working...
I found a file named `.pulse-cookie` would removing that help?
Well it could very easily happen that 1/2 of those 1 Mb/s go to error correction coding and other miscellaneous stuff needed to keep WiFI connection alive.
At this moment, I found that this is not limited to `ls` and `grep`. It seems that it applies to all commands using pipes. e.g., `echo 'Hello' | tee outfile` throws the same error. I'll put this on the question.
Maybe, maybe not, rename it before removing to be safe
Okay. I'm gonna backup then remove some suspicious files, then I'll report back
Have you tried restarting your machine?
Copy dialog has never been a real-time exact estimate of the transfer. Any number of reasons for the small delay
I don't have a subscription to read it but if you have RHEL subscription, this link seems like it might help: https://access.redhat.com/solutions/410333
Is it only `bash`, or do other shells (`sh`, `csh`, `zsh`, etc, whichever you have installed) also give the problem? It is certainly not a generic `bash` problem.
What type of 802.11 connection are you using specifically? I ask this question even though I know it's an ISP issue
In journal of linux network stack, there are IP stack, Qdisc buffers and Ring buffer. I have misunderstanding between the TCP buffer where the congestion window is running and the TCP socket send queue ( buffer) or TCP socket receive queue where I think the kernel is creating one queue per TCP connection BUT I do not have any resource has stated that. May you please clarify this to me? Thank you
@Eric Renouf, yes, I found that article. I am afraid that I don't have subscription neither. @AFH, Tested on `sh` with tens of trials, no errors UNTIL now. Not tested on `csh` nor `zsh`. According to this, `bash` is incorrectly configured?
Alright, I moved the `.config` directory to a backup place where I can find it, and now it works! I think `xfce4` gave a hard time to ElementaryOS's Gala. Anyways, thank you @TomWijsman for helping :)
It sounds like some resource is running out and @DavidPostill's suggestion of a reboot seems a good one: at the very least, empty the `/tmp` directory. However, since it's a permission error, also try running under `sudo -s`.
Sometimes looking from the "How would a reinstall fix this?" perspective instead of the "What does the log tell me?" perspective helps a great deal
True. Reinstalling this as many times as I'd wanted to wouldn't help this situation :P I'm just glad that it works now
Is your system running in a container?
Keep in mind that both devices are sending during a communication.
That's a good answer. I did that before asking this question. Perhaps I didn't restart?
avoid surface. Buy surface pro 2 instead.
At this point I'd actually get the more recent version (at least a 3, but preferably a 4) as they fixed the aspect ratio, among other various improvements.
I can get used surface pro 2 for $400 :) And I rarely use laptop because I have nice desktop. But yea, thanks.
There is a kernel send and receive queue per TCP connection. It holds application data, not packets. The send queue holds data that has not yet been acknowledged by the other side. The receive queue holds data that has not yet been accepted by the local application. The TCP congestion algorithms and such use those queues.
What do you see under the "Boot" menu?
Do `ls` and `grep` work ok when you enter them separately, i.e., when you aren't piping the output of ls into grep? E.g., do `ls /etc` and `grep localhost /etc/hosts` produce the expected output? Do you have another user account you can test from and does that show the same problem? If you log into the root account and issue the same commands, do you get the error message or expected output?
Yes changes made via `chcon` are not permanent and they are lost upon system relabelling or running `restorecon` command. [Read further](http://linuxfuse.blogspot.in/2015/03/difference-between-chcon-and-semanage.html) and update your answer so that it provides more accurate and reliable information
@AndrejaKo well then how do I stop that from happening?
@Ramhound Acc to my router - 11b/g mixed mode
I have Fast Boot disabled. Launch CSM I cant with it anything doing. Boot Option Priorities . Boot Option # 1 (Windows Boot Manage ..). Add New Boot Option. Delete Boot Option. Can I with it anything doing ?
What do you mean by "less than optimal" and by long range I mean 1 or 2 km
What do you mean by `Virtual box share` and by `linked a virtual server`, and were all your tests done from a different host?
I tried this procedure, but it did not work at first... After some more searching, I found people recommending to put manually installed packages under the /usr/ **local** /share/texmf directory. So I followed your procedure with this other folder (I had to create the folder structure first with mkdir), and it worked after updating the _ls-R_ file that was already inside it (with _sudo mktexlsr_)! Thank you so much for your time, Hastur!
Hastur's answer solved my question! I just needed two slight modifications: (1) copy the files to the _texmf_ folder inside usr/ **local** /share instead of usr/share (I needed to make the directory structure with _mkdir_ before copying...); (2) update the _ls-R_ file that was already inside that folder with the command _sudo mktexlsr_ Thanks a lot for your time, Hastur!
Btw this is where I found about the _ls-R_ update: [link](http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/38978/how-can-i-manually-install-a-latex-package-debian-ubuntu-linux)
Also, this _locate|awk_ command was really helpful, I would have never figured what the right folder was without it... That was a really sweet trick! Would you mind explaining it a little?
The speeds your getting are typical for 802.11b/g connections

Wow, thanks a lot, man. I can't believe how MS hides this feature. Why on earth is it not accessible via the right-mouse click menu?
@YaddyVirus If it's an ISP issue, you don't. That's how standard works. Only option you might have is to try to get higher speed. The net speed you have, to me looks like expected value for 1 Mb/s plan on WiFi.
Mistake - the right link [is this](http://www.jensscheffler.de/filelocker).

Helps if you point out what exactly is wrong with the screenshot. Dialog box buttons being in English while he message isn't, isn't obvious enough, since that isn't all that strange
That's not how Microsoft Accounts are accessed, MicrosoftAccount appears to be a domain, but based on the username alone it's not possible for it to be an actual Microsoft Account, if the account isn't a domain account don't provide it a domain.
Ramhound beat me to it. It isn't clear what the issue is. I don't know Chinese, but there are Chinese-looking characters in the title and question, and all of the screen content other than the digits and the button text. What I assume is the end result picture in your answer looks the same as the picture in the question. What are we looking for? BTW, I didn't downvote, but that would be a logical explanation for the votes.
@fixer1234 Fixed ;P
the characters mix up Chinese and Korean characters. Everywhere. And their concatenation makes no sense. It's like saying sdfgghngewrfdg.
That's going to be totally lost on this audience. SU is an English-only site, so very few readers will recognize the difference. Definitely add that explanation to the question.
@DavidPostill The two questions have different motive. This question intends to troubleshoot the issue with VLC abruptly stopping its recording. The other question, on the other hand, is aimed at finding a reliable alternative to Windows' native Task Scheduler software to solve the scheduling aspect.
@fixer1234 added, is it ok?
With virtual box share, I mean the "Shared Folder" option. The Wordpress installation is on my host machine, and in the virtualbox preferences of the guest machine, it is added with option "Auto-Mount"
With `linked a virtual server` I just mean, apaches virtual host config (https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Apache/Virtual_Hosts/). I`ll edit this in my question.
Thanks for looking deeper into this. I had a similar file on my system and wondered where it came from... research brought me to your post and now it's clear - I also have an older version of SketchUp installed on my Mac.
What you need to clarify is the difference between both scenarios which is quite unclear.
@DavidPostill It's basically one big problem with various sub-problems. I do get the dilemna. The second para in the other post seems to be bringing this problem to that post too. I've suitably amended it. Kindly unlock this question so that people can help me with this. :)
@sixty4bit Sorry the computer is with my grandmother now who can't look that up...
You are right, bad description. Edited it, I think it`s more clear now.
Better. Your Q&A would probably get a better reception if your issue had involved a European language and an Asian language, so the problem was more obvious to the bulk of SU's readers. :-)
You need to provide more information. The error is caused by Chrome using an invalid certificate. Most often that is caused by a proxy being used.
Make sure you've installed the latest guest addons first. If that doesn't solve it, try changing the VM's network adapter to `Intel Pro 1000MT`.
@IMB: Ramhound is right, but the problem could be as simple as a bad wifi connection. You should try to reproduce it with a wired connection and if the problem isn't present anymore, troubleshooting needs to focus on wifi issues.
Are you signed into the app for sure ??
Latest guest additions are installed, Adapter is at Intel Pro 1000MT Desktop(82540EM). How could the network adapter slow down the share?
I reversed my vote, only because the question now indicates what is wrong, and its a self-answer. The real problem once the clarification was provided, explains the original screenshot in more detail, everything that isn't being handled by the program itself is simply gibberish due current language setting simply not containing the correct characters.
This sounds like a DNS issue.
It's a VM after all and that could add issues, but apparently that's not your problem. If I were you, I'd simply create a samba share and use that instead of the VirtualBox share, or direct the web traffic to the VM as would be expected in that kind of setup. Not sure why you'd create a VM to simply share its disk space.
@Ramhound any idea how to solve this problem??
[Why can't Chrome load a web page? ERR\_NAME\_NOT\_RESOLVED](http://superuser.com/q/719559)?
In general, it's better to make posts self-contained. Links break, in which case your answer would be just a clue. Include the essential information within the post and use the link for reference. [from Low Quality Post review queue](http://superuser.com/review/low-quality-posts/540689)
@JuliePelletier: I'm pretty sure that ERR_CERT_INVALID can not be caused by a bad wifi. The client is obviously receiving a certificate bad does not like it.
@IMB: look at the certificate details and post the information here, i.e. who signed the certificate. Make sure that you are still connected to your own WiFi and not some other WiFi.
@SteffenUllrich: With such a level of clarity in the question, we can't even know what network he is actually connected to.
Samba is a tool for a windows share, right?
Yes, but it has become widely used for Unix shares too because of the multiple issues with classic NFS implementations.
Is this another homework question?
Welcome to [su]! Please try and ask 1 question at a time (otherwise your question will be closed as too broad). Please read [How do I ask a good question?](http://superuser.com/help/how-to-ask) and [On-Topic](http://superuser.com/help/on-topic).
@DavidPostill Thanks for the comment, but as I have stated, I have tried deleting the cache in Chrome. The other answer suggested did also not help.
Protip: Tapping the "ERR_CERT_INVALID" error will show the actual certificate.
mkdir for windows has no -p option
Thanks for the comments Ramhound and DavidPostill , i think i will use Crypto-JS library instead Since the .net Framework does not have the SHA-3 Class : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/30109958/calculating-sha-3-hash-in-java .
Note that it's spelled `%i` when running interactively.
These are called *internal commands*.
Please include the script in your question. Otherwise we cannot answer.
Please [edit] and translate the error messages to English.
@DavidPostill everything Important translated
They do not appear to have this function, no. But yes, the build quality is good, and it has everything I was looking for in a laptop, for a much lower price than the competition! Will never buy anything else again, unless it's a very good offer somewhere. It's also good to buy these, because they come "clean" - without windows. And since I've mostly been using Linux, I don't see why I should buy a Windows machine if I don't have to.
[Adding features (including .NET 3.5) to Windows 10](https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mniehaus/2015/08/31/adding-features-including-net-3-5-to-windows-10/) suggests a different command line to install it.
Yeah it was a new and clean EFI install. I ended up reinstalling everything from a disc instead, so it boots in emulated BIOS.
Your question is off-topic here being in corporate environment. You're trying to trick your company policy. Best approach would be to convince your line manager to enable your preferred setting.
Screencast is currently offline. Could you upload it to vimeo/youtube or something similar?
It is not off topic. No-one manages anything except IT. I am in an OU of over 10,000 users and I doubt they will change the policy just for me. I know there is a solution, I just don't know what
have you tried the tool from my answer?
The question mentions the creation of a subfolder as well, can you create the folder and subfolder in a single command or do you need another `FOR /L %i IN (start, step, end) DO md folder%i\subfolder` ?
the error shows that there is a pending operation. Have you made a reboot?
@Arvind I don't know what command you used that caused you to lose your data but it wasn't rsync -tr. Read the man page.
Did you install the manufacturer's software (i.e control software, not drivers) for the NIC card? If so, try uninstalling it. If that removes the drivers as well, let Windows install its own drivers. The fact that it works in safe mode points to something in the startup list.
@The_IT_Guy_You_Don't_Like That's true but `-p` is not mentioned in the question ...
This is a rant not an answer.
Yes.. here it is... http://images.esellerpro.com/2416/I/104/32/Microsoft%20Digital%20Media%20Keyboard%203000%20-%20Portuguese%20-%202.jpg
See someone boot off off a 1.4MB floppy disk, run windows, note pad, surf the web etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_VlI6IBEJ0
@Pacerier NO! the first line does NOT solve the problem
@X.LINK and harder for search engines to find? Thanks for the list anyway, still have to play 'spot the update'...
OK, so some time passed, but the problem reminded about itself. First off, thanks for the way around. I checked whether unmounting via diskutil does the job and I say - it works so far. I will try to understand the mechanism behind the SleepWacher and fix it that way. Also, I think it would be easier to just `diskutil mount` on wake and `diskutil unmount` on sleep, just because I'm completely lost in your way of thinking.
Weird. That command should work ... it does on Window 7. Do you have the correct permissions on the files that still have uppercase letters?
@magicandre1981 Operation failed
for me this helped: https://www.rosehosting.com/blog/how-to-install-phpmyadmin-with-hhvm-nginx-and-mariadb-on-an-ubuntu-14-04-vps/
@DavidPostill does not work...
[Yes](http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/50179/what-happens-when-you-delete-a-hard-link)
The question is why my command returns different outputs using either ssh or teamviewer. The command is "make hybrid" it is a make command for an app called Legup which is about high level synthesis. The methods are SSH or Opening the terminal using TeamViewer. The command ends with many errors when it is executed by ssh.
I should clarify too, I dont want the person in the skype call to hear their-own voice echoed back at them... just the game sound / my mic sound.
The key to being able to create the bookmark was to click on the three dots.
@ejbytes Sorry, I couldn't figure out how the code works.
Happily, but not sure what to show here - if it's the actual hyperlinks not being in different format, here you go: http://postimg.org/image/rh7gm4k3f/ (the popup appears when hovering over Further Adventures in Finance and Felony, which is where the hyperlink is).
@TheKB I want let AHK recognize `Caps Lock` as a `Ctrl` and original `Ctrl` as a `AltGr`. I'm not sure I'm understanding correctly what you wrote.
This belongs on the think different site, I've flagged it to be moved. They'll want more details, like what happens when you try and open a site
Which site is it?
Sorry I meant ask different and it's at http://apple.stackexchange.com
@RobM Chances are SuperUser will be a better spot for this. It's not really Apple-specific.
@Vince42 I think hardlink is the one which get deleted if all its links are destroyed. Thank you for the link!
@mfernandes You're welcome. There are many places where you can put your package and they are system and _Latex distribution_ dependent. In general you should individuate your version and read the instruction for that version. That line was a lazy workaround written _"on the fly"_. You want to install a `*sty` file. `locate *sty`, if updatedb is installed, answers you with the list of all the sty installed (that updatedb stored). The pipe (`|`) takes the output of the previous command and redirect as input of the following. `awk` writes for each line the command `dirname /path/to/file`. (%)
i'm sure this is over my head but anyhow, you could explain further, maybe somebody will know. first, is it a command line application? Are you able to state the application that it is? Can you show the ssh command that you use to login and to execute the application(e.g. that way we can see if you're using -X, or just regular)? I haven't used -X but i've seen a friend do it and it kind of launches remote gui programs locally. Without that, I think ssh can only load command line programs.
I installed `SharpKeys`, but I couldn't find `AltGr` key in `to this key` list. What is the exact name of the key?
(%) Each package is installed in its subdir, so I need 2 `dirname` (the second one executed in a subshell `()` returned as variable to the first `$()`) , `sh` execute each line, `sort` put them in order, `uniq -c` write only one line with the number that is repeated, the last `sort -n` order the output from the number (-n) more little to the bigger. So you have the number of `*.sty` in each grandfather directory, that is the place where you have to copy your directory. It's not so well written, but it follows the steps I've done to search for it... a Linux _train_ of commands.
@barlop yes it is just a command line application. I log in this way: ssh legup@10.79.4.173 then I go to the directory of application and type in: "make hybrid", I put the result of this command at the end of question body. I don't use -X11 or similar methods.. just ssh based on command line.
I dont have an h100i. I have an h100.
who are you logged in as if you go in with teamviewer then open a terminal window? e.g. do `cd ~/` from a terminal after logging in via teamviewer and see who the user is, and contrast that with when going in with ssh
You shouldn't need to.
I tried it on my SmartOS box. Initial state: /etc/resolv.conf contains "nameserver 127.0.0.1" as the first line. Then, dig gives me the result from 127.0.0.1. Next, I edit /etc/resolv.conf to remove the line "nameserver 127.0.0.1". Trying dig again, I now get the result from 192.168.1.1 (my home router). So, by just checking it out - at least on SmartOS I do need to put "nameserver 127.0.0.1" as the first name server directive.
Depending on how you are connecting (DHCP, PPPoE, ...), the router’s CPU may simply not be fast enough.
HWMonitor does not display any information about fans (on my laptop anyway).
"Internet Explorer", in the sense that most people mean it rather than the sense that Microsoft means it, is partially integrated into Windows and used by Windows for it to do it's usual tasks. There is no getting rid of it in it's entirety.
Split multiple questions into different posts. Your text related issues should be addressed as another, separate ask.
I was asking for an actual example file that I could study. Maybe two of them : docx for case #1 and rtf for case #2. No point in giving large files.
@DavidPostill I don't see how the script would be relevant to this issue..? It has to do with the command prompt having a character limit per command, not the script itself
See: [How can I log into Windows 8 (Microsoft account) whilst offline?](http://superuser.com/questions/520083/how-can-i-log-into-windows-8-microsoft-account-whilst-offline)
Thank you. Odd it didn't seem to show that question while I was typing - it's normally very good at that. Question still stands though.
@Mokubai MD creates any intermediate directories in the path, if needed.
also you could also additionally ask the question to the developers of the program and B)I wonder if anybody ever wrote a server program that provides a terminal to the client that connects to it, and then sends the commands onto a terminal on the remote machine.
Wifi access points can be set to not let clients talk to each other. This setting is sometimes called "AP isolation". It could explain the behavior you're experiencing.
This solved my problem. Thank you very much @Yasir.
I will give that a try, although I wont be able to do this within next days. Although I already tried and checked everything you recommend and there are no issues with cables and checked the configuration lots of times, I never tried to run the 7170 in the right room (switch them). I will try asap.
Try using an explicit join. Also, is the data the same?
@TomYan I did not use a cross over cable anywhere, this is for sure. But I didn't try to use the 7141 exactly in that port of the switch. That's something to check, I will try.
Both do not work, for example, if line 10 and 20 are bookmarked. i would like a line added into line 21 which is a copy of line 20. and a line added to line 11 which is a copy of line 10.
That doesn't seem to work either
@13aal Yes it is relevant. "On computers running Microsoft Windows XP or later, the maximum length of the string that you can use at the command prompt is 8191 characters". You are clearly managing much less than that. We need to figure out why. [Command prompt (Cmd. exe) command-line string limitation](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/830473)
@isea can you elaborate on how it doesn't work?
See I found that dentofacial.com site but was immediately thrown off by the beta thing on the homepage and little else. I always forget about the wayback machine. I too was able to download the showcase 2.0 and have tested it on an XP machine and it opens the files. I'll have a wait a few days to find out if that's good enough for them, but I'm a lot closer now. Thanks!
This just duplicates the previous answers.
The line in my bash file looks like this find /some/dir -regex '.*-\d\.csv' and when I run the script nothing happens. When I did the find without the regex it would print the path to the file.
It's an ad. What's your question?
Even with a linked account you should be able to log into the account, since the local account still exists, verify your using the correct password
What do you want to know that is not already displayed in your image?
Its not clear what you are trying to do. Are you trying to set the time to something that's wrong? And is the problem its getting corrected? (Its OK if that's the use case, you just need to state it).
This duplicates another answer and adds no new content. Please don't post an answer unless you actually have something new to contribute.
The multiple received lines are normal for email - one is added by each server the message passes through, and it's possible for servers to add more than one, or for the origin server to provide a fake chain of them. https://mediatemple.net/community/products/dv/204643950/understanding-an-email-header has a basic introduction to email headers, including information on reading received headers.
Went with the Windows 10 Build 1511 fresh install, couldn't find any other solution
I am using the "Next Generation" One Drive client on Windows 10, which handles both One Drive and One Drive for Business. Which app/client is installed is a moot point since trying to open the link sent to me takes me to a website. This is a project for work and I want to use my Office 365 / One Drive for Business with it.
Try this `for i in /some/dir/with/full/path/*;do a=$(echo $i|grep -E "^/some/dir/with/full/path/String-[0-9]\.csv$");[[ -n $a ]] || echo $a; done`
Why are you asking about 14 year old email?
How exactly; having used this program before, it's not that simple
Thanks. How do I set the time servers and the update interval?
Sorry change `-n` to `-z` or `||` to `&&`
How do I decipher what the log says?
=IF(ISTEXT(A1),"prefix"&A1,"")
What happens when you try? Do you get an error?
what steps did you take after editing that file? what init are you using?
You have very different output for the good server and the bad server ...
how do I try , I want to use the MS numbering list and not add the numbers manually
OK, that works. Why can't I just do something like that with find?
I am also using Putty 0.67 but I cannot replicate this issue, is there any other changes that you may have of done? One suggestion would be try to reinstall a new putty.exe and see if the problem arises.
Insert a new list item. Right click and select restart numbering.
I don't know about `find` I just used it for some times but not as an expert user.
Try installing the community edition, I bet it works, or uninstall the components that installed the VS2015 command shells. Error is clear, in the past you did have it, you just had VS2013.....
You must be running different versions of MYSQL because your results are different, one returns 640k rows the other 450k so the MySQL version is clearly to blame likely a documented change causing the query to return different results. The "extra" and "key" column tells all you need to know.
What's wrong with the query specifically is out of scope here sadly.
On the chance that the "answer" and attempted edit is yours, you can freely edit your own posts but for your protection, this must be done under the original user account. It looks like you have created a second account, which will also interfere with your ability to comment within your thread and to accept an answer. See [Merge my accounts](http://superuser.com/help/merging-accounts) to get your accounts merged, which will solve the problem.
You pulled the CMOS battery, doing that itself, would reset your firmware settings. So it sounds like you should replace the existing battery with a new one.
I uninstalled what I believe to be the components that installed the VS shells, but of course they aren't automatically uninstalled also. I manually uninstalled the shells and was able to get the emulator to install. Now I'm trying to reinstall the other components. Hopefully I didn't break anything, but I think Microsoft should fix this. I'll have to find the right channel to report this bug to.
Unfortunately it doesn't work with console projects you wish to debug in Visual Studio, still loads regular cmd ;(
ok, to boil this down: do `arp -a ` to show table of MAC to IP addresses, then follow with `nslookup ...` (or `nbstat -A ` on Windows) on each IP in order to get the hostname. That about capture it?
@DavidPostill I can't post the entire script due to security of my agency, but I can probably post the main file that calls the modules and templates and such, I'll be posting it later, it's written in Ruby.
What do you mean by `magic AoB`? Is it a text or binary file? Providing a sample would be necessary, although I suspect I will make the question off-topic. Perhaps it would become on topic for http://stackoverflow.com if you provide the code you tried to get it to work. From the small amount of information, I would probably write a small PHP script to do the job.
@13aal Yuck. I don't speak ruby :/
As stated in the question, it is a binary file that contains these magic arrays of bytes that act as separators in this file. I wish to split the file based on the bytes highlighted in my post into multiple files
I followed the same process in my case I change from top to justified and it worked fine
@DavidPostill Rubys what I learned with, so it's my baby. Lol, I also have a version written in Perl, Python, and C#. They aren't anywhere near done though.
@13aal If your scripts are written in Ruby, Perl, ... then your question is probably better suited to [so].
Not the two Linuxes I currently use: on Ubuntu(14) with `bash` or `dash`, doing `cat bad 2>&1 >output` sends the error message to the tty and nothing to the file; on CentOS(6) with `bash` or `dash` or `ksh93` the same, and with `tcsh` it gives an error `Ambiguous output redirection`. Could you give me an example I can download (on x86-64) or connect to that works for that form?
So, I think I have succeeded, but by substituting %wheel with %sudo, the %sudo group being, I presume, the one that needs to be addressed for anyone wanting to use the sudo command?
On most Linux systems, the group that allows one to use `sudo` is named `wheel`.
Can you expand your answer a bit? Just mentioning a product doesn't really explain how to accomplish the solution, and it's often viewed as spam. It's better to include some instructions on how to use the product to solve the problem, or at least describe what makes the product a good solution. Include a link to the product. Good guidance on recommending software here: http://meta.superuser.com/questions/5329/how-do-i-recommend-software-in-my-answers. Thanks.
Sorry for offending you folks. Just trying to clarify. So have fun all you critics.
I will be deleting this fine information an dropping my participation in your limited blog website.
there is no disable option on keyboards
Hope you critics are happy. Good bye!
The laptop keyboard still functions after uninstalling the driver
That would be easy to do in any language but I doubt that you'll find a tool that does it generically. If you have any programming background, you should try to do it. In PHP, you could use the `explode()` function to separate the contents based on that substring, since strings can be binary in PHP.
Did you disable the built-in monitor from Windows?
Thanks. But that doesn't explain why when I switch the program path from C:\Windows\System32\PING.EXE to "ALl programs that meet the specified conditions", it works. Or am I missing something that you mentioned?
No. Do I need to do that? if yes how?
Ah..that may make sense...wonder if there is a way for me specify only "System" process are allowed but not other program.
Seeing as firewall doesn't see the source/destination program and only the "System" process I don't think you are going to have a lot of luck on restricting it to a white list of programs. Also I just had a closer look and the default when adding a new ICMPv4 rule is to allow all types and codes.
Have you consider leaving the documents in the "correct" location and just creating a user-based shortcut that points to them?
That seems to work. By the way, I wanted to check your comments as the correct answer, but seems like I can only check the answer itself.
I concur with Peter Hahndorf... I'd be looking at the Event logs for disk errors
In general and not just for the ping program, the idea is to not directly use the WinSXS files, but rather, use the ones in the system32 or SysWOW64 folders as they are ntfs hard links to the current version intended for use of the program contained in the WinSXS folder. Windows update maintains the content of WinSXS and all of the ntfs links to the correct files and versions thereof.
My first guess would be that the malware did something to your internet settings to allow it to inject ads, capture your logins, etc; and that Avast deleted the malware but didn't fully clean up the damage it had done. It'd help a lot to know exactly what the malware was.
Take a look at this article for more information about How Synchronization Works: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/apps_windows_10-msedge/how-edge-synchronization-works/ce5e3d26-9090-4490-a40d-c3252be268b0
I tried that. When i tried that on TV, it only shows upto 640 X 480 as only option
Well I tried TV as the only monitor and that also does not seem to provide more options for resolution
I doubt. How do you see two drivers, one in the host OS and another in VM OS working with the same device on 'register' level without conflicts?
I've updated the answer to better reflect the problem described by the question.
Ok, checked. Thanks for answer.
Yes you are right, I waited like 1-2 minutes and text file is not blank anymore but it doesn't save the output, it saves application's detail stuff. I am speaking of `system_profiler > output.txt`
**Thank you!** This didn't work perfectly, but I managed to get it to work.
Am I the only one who is doing something wrong? I see these commands everywhere but it doesn't work for me, I waited, still blank text file. Are you el capitan 10.11.5?
Still blank text file and no success, it may be an el capitan issue? Are you on latest el capitan?
Yes, the data is the same (one day difference). I am indeed running different versions of mysql, since, as the title and description say, I upgraded to a two year newer release of ubuntu. This looks like a very boring and garden variety query and I am surprised that mysql could not handle it in the 21st century, even though a two year old release handled it just fine.
`mkfs /dev/sda1`for a 30gb SSD is taking hours!
Beyond the checks NTFS does itself I doubt it.
That was it, thank you. It seems that this has been fixed in the most recent version ([here](https://github.com/hut/ranger/blob/master/ranger/config/rifle.conf)).
There's the hitec document class also: http://www.billauer.co.il/hitec.html. Also, have you tried a pandoc conversion?
There are additional suggestions here: http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/8308/make-ms-word-document-look-like-it-has-been-typeset-in-latex
It's using Microsoft's driver.
You can use `ROW() - MATCH(TRUE,INDEX(E:E<>"",),0)` but this requires that all the cells above not have anything in them. Or you can use the title of the column in the Match instead; `ROW() - MATCH("Samples", E:E,0)`
So you disabled the other display and the maximum output on the TV setting is 640 X 480?
Are you actually using a direct HDMI cable? Now I'm wondering if you're using some cheap VGA to HDMI adapter.
Or if you know that the header row will never be deleted then `ROW() - ROW($E$5)`
I upvoted you out of a negative.
I connected the keyboard to my laptop and the same thing happens so it seems you are correct. Also on the log in screen pressing the spacebar multiple times makes it type `0. `. Anyway, no idea how to fix this
@ChristopherFrancisco I would recommend trying some other anti-virus programs. I use Norton Security. While Norton used to be just terrible because it was impossible to remove, it has become a top notch software package which includes a wide array of software packages designed to protect you from viruses, malware, phishing schemes, spyware etc. It also has an excellent firewall as well as identity protection. Typically you can find an excellent deal online to get 10 licences for your house for about $40 to $50. You may have to search around a bit for a coupon code but you can usually get
The weird thing is that im only having trouble with the spacebar, i wonder if the firmware could have bugged out or gotten infected or what but this is insane
Thanks. But look, I posted a mention not about typical SSD, but Optane with 3D XPoint, I mean this one: http://wccftech.com/intels-3d-xpoint-memory-featured-optane-ssds-optane-dimms-8x-performance-increase-conventional-ssds/ I understand what you mean, but my question is about the more practical use. And I see not enough info to compare Optane SSD with modern RAM. Ok, RAM is faster by default, but isn't speed the same or very very close each other?..
So, yes, thank you. Don't you know how the chain of latencies looks in the typical platform now in 2016? I mean CPU -> (which latency?) -> video card RAM -> (which latency?) -> system RAM -> (which latency?) -> SSD Optane -> latency?..
You could give your phone a static IP address based on it's mac address and setup a ping loop if it's pingable. Are those options in your setup?
@mattwilkie Yes - though on linux, by default `arp -a` will do a reverse lookup by default (that you switch off with `-n`) and so get there in one step if possible
what fails? The reboot? The configuration of the pending updates?
sed is not part of the shell. Could you be more specific on which inconsistency is of concern?
Uh... as currently written, the question indicates that real-time scheduling is -e, but the quoted text indicates that is -r.
I agree... you're asking for a plain explanation, but the question isn't very plain. Surely if you're using a different operating system, you're using a different executable for the shell. There are various versions of sed that have been released, with different capabilities. Some specific examples may help people to understand what information you're seeking.
How are you trying to have SCP authenticate? With a key? If so, what file contains that key you are trying to use? What are the filesystem's permissions settings for that file?
If you copy the document to the local hard drive, does it open faster?
have you tried disabling Anti virus? Are the users using roaming profiles, and/or do they have their My Documents folder redirected to a server?
have you uploaded the dmp file?
do you had some time to make the upgrade to 1511? Does it solve the issue?
It's unclear what software and drivers you use but if you do effectively setup a pass-through, then the display will be controlled by the guest. That is exactly what you want to do. The alternative is to use it as VMs are generally configured, but this obviously reduces the video throughput and quality.
@JuliePelletier What should I do if I want to be able to use the graphics card for the VM without losing display control in the host OS?
Process name of Videos in Ubuntu is 'totem'.
You can have a VM output in a window on the host system without any problems. You just seem to imply that you're using some special method to pass-through the video card control, which is not the way it usually works.
Are you talking about on-board graphics? If so I would not expect to see it running comfortably at 4k.
@isea That would be because there are no matches. I've updated my answer to correctly match the file name you provided.
I'm sorry not to question plainly for my poor English skill and poor knowledge about computer. I kept an example like [this](http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/13711/differences-between-sed-on-mac-osx-and-other-standard-sed) in my mind . Anyway It seems that I'd better learn more by myself.
I am using the Same PEM key I am using to SSH the box when I Created The EC2 intance. the file has had CHMOD 400 applied to it.
You may be confusing the name used for a specific display resolution with the capabilities of the graphics card. A very common resolution limit for VGA output is 2048x1536.
Right, VGA connector but resolutions like QXGA. Checked on http://www.fourmilab.ch/documents/howmanydots/ What would you say the SD resolution comes from then ?
I was going to use the passthrough ability of qemu or virtualbox.
Names have been assigned to certain common display resolutions based on their "multiple" of the original VGA resolution. However, that's unrelated to what the graphics card can output through the VGA connector. The quality of the Digital/Analog Converter on the graphics card determines how high a resolution can be outputted with good quality. Even on inexpensive cards, the manufacturers typically rate them as capable of up to 2048x1536 without noticeable degradation. The 640x480 doesn't really come into play as any kind of limit on VGA output.
Try it with the graphicsmagick package installed : `gm import screenshot.jpg`.
@magicandre1981 The install task fails, nothing more is written there, more info in the Log. I can't understand the log...
"system_profiler > output.txt" has the exact same effect as "system_profiler", except saved to a file. "system_profiler -xml > output.txt" will print in an xml format that is sometimes useful but not what you are looking for. Can you show me the difference you get between "system_profiler" and the file from: "system_profiler > output.txt"? I'm using exactly the same syntax as you. I get exactly the same thing, the expected result.
Ok, I did not know all that about what is still said to be VGA.
Both wireless connecitons
Do you get the same results running a wired connection?
Nice update to the formula from bvaughn! Or, if you need the random sample to be static, perhaps you could simply duplicate the sample data. I.e once the random 100 is filtered, CTRL+A to select the range and copy/past in to a separate worksheet.
I do not have a wired connection, but i could get a cable in like two days and test it that way, what would it mean whether it works the same on cable or not?
There is something missing. Either you are cancelling the command mid-way, or you are not satisfied with the original output of "system_profiler" as it is without printing. Whether printing to file or not, the result is massive. If you only want to limit the results to the first paragraph, then use "system_profiler --timout 5 > output.txt" and it will stop itself. That is not a printing issue. Please explain how the result in the file is different from the result on screen. CONFIRM YOU ARE NOT SENDING SIGKILL [CTRL-C] etc.... because then we are not doing the same thing at all.
To expand: `vm_stat` and `ls -l /var/vm` tell you about how much memory the *system* has installed, which is totally different from `/proc/self/maps`, which on Linux shows the memory map for a given *process*. On OS X, according to the docs, the `vmmap` command is what you actually want to see a process's memory map. This should probably be an answer, but leaving it here instead since this short incorrect answer has upvotes and a tickmark, while my short correct answer appears to be on its way to deletion, and I'd rather the next person to google this get something useful *somehow*.
Whether the wireless is going out (or being interfered with) or the router is completely unavailable. I wouldn't worry about doing all that. What if you reflash the router to default? Or update the firmware? Does that change the behavior? What if there's a different router, does it also happen (interference)?
Did the new hardware replace an older setup and the wifi network name remained the same? If so, try to delete this wifi network on your laptop and then connect to it again.
I re-installed my OS yesterday, completely formatted my hard drive. Would there still be any conflict? The network names are the same. I'll give it a shot.
Did you check how many cores are allocated to the VM in Parallels? By default it gives only 2. BTW, if you have any HT-capable quad-core CPU then your core count would be 8 not 4, which would make those figures look about right to me, with 2 cores on the VM. Simple way to see number of cores on a Mac is hit Cmd/3 with Activity Monitor frontmost & count the stripes.
Sounds really like the stored profile somehow got messed up and you changing the profile reset that.
Works. It still changes a bitrate a little bit, but this is maybe by processing. But I need to know the real bitrate of an audio, which is hard to find out especially for large music collections. Is there any option, how not to change the cut-off e.g. if I don't know it?
@dave_thompson_085 I just noticed I only use `command 2>&1 | tee output.txt` which does work this way around, but you're right, for `>` it doesn't. I never noticed O.o
@hzleonardo I just fired up ElCapitan 10.11.5 and yes it works, you just need to give it some time. You do not even need the stderr-redirection except you want to get info about devices that didn't respond etc. For me it took quite some time: `time system_profiler > out.txt 2> err.txt 23.36s user 39.51s system 96% cpu 1:04.97 total`, so perhaps just wait ...
@ironsand Yes, that's what I wrote.
Yep that fixed my connection error thanks.
The executable *is* totem, "Videos" is *not* the name of the executable but the "Application name" according to XDG Desktop Spec
I will check this once I get back from work. Thanks for the answer too :)
The output will be CBR but not exactly the same rate. The bitrate is not, strictly speaking, related to the cut-off. The LAME encoder (used by ffmpeg) implements a cut-off based on the bitrate chosen. To check the frequency spectrum of an audio file, use `ffmpeg -i input.mp3 -lavfi showspectrumpic=s=1024x1024 input-freq.png` and view the PNG.
The given URL is no longer found. There's http://web.archive.org/web/20140705135548/http://support.asus.com:80/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=smart+gesture but the operating system selection menu, in that capture of the page, does not work. http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/ASUS-ZenBook-UX31A/HelpDesk_Download/ may offer what's required.
Right, But when you click on Videos Icon, how can you find pid of this process? (because there are some applications that executable file name is not same of the application).
copy/paste to something that can only handle plain text?
When I pulled the CMOS battery out, I used a voltmeter to see if it was 3 volts and it was. Could this still mean that the CMOS battery is dead?
Thanks for the advice. It turns out that my Equalizer preset was the cause of the sound distortion. It's odd because I never got distorted sound on wired earphones because of EQ settings so it never occurred to me that this would be the case until I started experimenting.
(better use spek to see or fakeflac to compute cut-off, but still it is an extra step and not really fast if working with large music collections) The bitrate is not strictly related to cut-off, but it slightly depends on it. This is why I asked if this change is bad or correct behavior (speeding anything up could just lower a bitrate - I don't know)
No, the text is in an image - no copy and pasting.
Changing audio tempo has no effect on bitrate. That is set separately. It defaults to 128k, but can always be explicitly set. The cut-off also has nothing to do with the bitrate. That is an encoder design choice.
Then I've no idea. OCR on a font like the one you linked would need some very specific recognition
See this: https://softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/questions/31301/ntfs-driver-for-macbook-pro-os-x
I suggest you add a link to this wiki: https://github.com/osxfuse/osxfuse/wiki/NTFS-3G
I was told that cut-off reveals an actual bitrate (instead of the one explicitly set). If an audio file has got e.g. 192 kbps but its cut-off is around 16 kHz, then the actual bitrate is lower (128 kbps). See http://www.wikihow.com/Check-the-Real-Bitrate-of-Audio-Files. This is why I ask, because if ffmpeg lowers mp3s bitrate (during speeding it up) e.g. from 192 to 128 kbps, it probably cuts off (lowers) its cut-off (from 19 kHz to 16 kHz). And this is not correct behavior right?
Yes, assuming a smart MP3 encoder, cut-off depends on the bitrate chosen. So, a 192k MP3 with 16 khz ceiling was most likely transcoded from a 128k MP3. BUT ffmpeg doesn't decide or change bitrate due to speed change. They are independent variables. ffmpeg's default bitrate is 128k. It's not due to the speed change.
I don't understand why you are starting the answer by suggesting `photorec` while later on you switch to (the much more appropriate) `testdisk` approach. :)
I see, I still hope there is an easier solution (e.g. another library better than ffmpeg, which uses bitrate of the input file or so) than checking it through fakeflac/spek/ffmpeg spectrum and specifying it by hand, but I must thank you so much
Is your Macbook listed as officially win10-supported by apple? btw: how long is your device waiting in BIOS before it actually starts to boot windows?
See also: http://askubuntu.com/a/779197/271
If you `-q 2` instead of`-b:a`, you can let the encoder decide the bitrate to use. It will analyze the input and apply the cut-off.
My point is, that an SSD is ALWAYS going to be 2nd in the chain. You ask if this SSD could essentially replace the RAM, and it cannot.
Works as expected, but isn't this parameter intended to a conversion between CBR and VBR?
@DavidPostill Correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't the same task be modified by the script itself using `schtasks /change /RI 720 ...` and the task interval be increased?
@Cerin please, review the folder ~ or ~/pictures as explained in the official documentation https://help.gnome.org/users/gnome-help/stable/screen-shot-record.html.en
@Vinayak You are correct. The link I gave says `SCHTASKS /Change [Connect_Options] {[/RU username] [/RP password] [/TR taskrun]} /TN taskname` but `schtasks /change /?` gives the full list.
The default java-openjdk gets updated. No repo for Oracle JRE , AFAIK. ..... The CentOS 5 identical 'Scientific Linux SL5' had Sun java in the repo. Ended with `jdk-1.6.0_41` .( Stopped after Oracle bought Sun Microsystems.) - Today : No CentOS compatible Oracle java repo any more. - Available RPMS : Oracle and PCLinuxOS ('apt for rpm' repo) only. -
Yes, the output is VBR. But the whole point of VBR is it allocates bits as needed. Simpler audio data gets fewer bits and complex audio gets more.
To expand on @mivk's comment, when tar reads what would be a file name containing a nul character, it will issue a warning and switch to treating the input as nul-terminated. However, this can break if any file names contain a newline character, as the nul character may be seen too late to make the switch. Given that the whole point of using nul terminators is to handle file names containing newline characters, the `--null` really needs to be specified.
Yes but it is not that charming simple as a formula. The user shell enter the expression for the filter not more not less. A pivot table is too complex for the standard user. Actually I have an acceptable solutions but the stack exchange algorithm doesn't allow me to answer currently (may only if you up vote my question) The answer is very comprehensive and gives you quite good understanding of arrays in excel (compare my answers on mrexcel.com)
In your own build, PKCS11 is not enabled. Take a look at `configure --help`. Also, don’t build as root. It’s bad practice. Only `make install` needs those permissions.
What model of ``Acer Ferrari`` are you talking about (1000, 1100 or 1200)? If you're not sure about the model connect your machine to the internet via cable and run the [Acer autodetect tool](http://global-download.acer.com/SupportFiles/Files/SNID/APP/SerialNumberDetectionTool.exe)
The first step , it's recommanded to recover the maximum of data , the 2 step is to repair the card (+recover data) , it's possible to delete data by pressing a wrong key .....
Maybe simplest way is using Ethernet cable.
I know but this model have thunderbolt 3 and I haven't the adapter.
I was the second such case that fit the hard drive after lying about half a year in a drawer would not work when connected - rule out shocks etc.
Did you upgrade your router firmware?
@magicandre1981 thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it seems to be a different issue as the update didn't fix things
Use USB/Ethernet adapter. From 2.5 US$ on eBay, 20 US$ on Amazon, to 30 US$ on Apple Store.
Hahahaha I also know that but I ask if there is a method to do that without wait the adapter.
Could you try windowed fullscreen and see if it still happens?
@Gary'sStudent Merely start your row counter at such a level that you know that rows within the row range will not be deleted. eg: Instead of `ROWS($1:1)`, use `ROWS($10:10)`
In my case it was "EnableAdaptivity" which was disabled and I changed it to Enable (also it has an "Auto" option which I don't know what it does). Anyway enabling that caused my wireless not being disable when a network cable is connected to ethernet port.
According to your router user manual, `When TKIP authentication only is selected, B/G/N Mixed network mode is not available`. So please check this option and be sure that this option configure on `B/G/N`.
Hi there. I did already identify that it is the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Rundll32.exe file causing the problem.
What OS are you using?
@ScottCraner Thanks........................
Yes, and another approach is that some older audio players can't handle with CBR correctly. Thank you
Please see my answer. I found a way to fix the problem.
Thanks @Mulvya, but saving to MOV or any other container didn't do it. The combined video is sometimes out of sync because of dropped frames. Adding -shortest makes vlc show correct length of video, I should say length of audio because video ends before audio. It's a question of how to sync now and is better asked separately, as per superuser.com protocol.
Yep, no idea how it got messed up. I found another Nighthawk-x8 user whose firmware literally broke for no reason whatsoever [link here](https://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/help-me-flash-a-firwmare-to-revive-my-dead-keyboard-t10927.html), it's kind of ridiculous, i had to go download their macro-profile software and use it as some sort of reset.
Actually cat doesn't remove the control characters at all, rather it outputs them verbatim, and the terminal then interprets them. That might work for you if your typescript is short relative to your terminal buffer and you can just copy and paste from the terminal. Not so good if your typescript is large though.
Interesting. Could you explain the first option? Are these special ID3 tags?
On Ubuntu 14.04, that leaves in a lot of junk at the start and end of lines. Quite readable, but not really clean.
@LPChip Yes, they tend to be embedded as APE tags in the file which means that they do need support from the player itself. Because of that fact not many players I've found actually support them, hence doing it the forcible way is best for portable media players. http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=ReplayGain#MP3Gain
I'm not sure what you are talking about, the "security mode" in my router is already set to `WPA2/WPA mixed mode`, the only options on it are `WPA 2`, `WPA` and `WEP`, there's no option to set the "encryption type". Tell me if I'm totally lost.
@ironsand It appears that it is not there. But I believe `1d02` is the scancode for AltGr (I used the on-screen keyboard to test this) So the registry entry would be `00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 1d 00 3a 00 1d 02 1d 00 00 00 00 00`. Could you try this and see if you get the correct results?
Please, follow the steps described. As explained in the answer, rundll32.exe does nothing on its own and is a Windows file. It needs parameters to run, and those parameters will tell you what is it running.
It doesn't - I lose performance though
I will try updating the firmware/flashing it to dd-wrt maybe even, but I'll need a cable for that so I won't be able to show results for now. That's why in my post I said `I was thinking of flashing the router's firmware to dd-wrt but I have absolutely no idea if that'll improve its performance or if it'll just give me more feautures while still malfunctioning.` so now I'll just wait and hope.
Cool, sorry about that. Updated my Q with that info.
One possiblity might be to format the SD card (Either from the tablet, or from windows), which should make it readable in the tablet (copy all important data to somewhere else, first) Connecting the feature phone to the tablet may _not_ be a good idea, since if it charges thought the USB cable, it may draw more power than the tablet can supply, which may result in damage to the tablet. Regarding recovering your files: there's file recovery software for windows, I'm not sure if it would work in this case though.
Not a problem. msvcrt.dll is again a Windows file and benign. We'll need to find what is calling rundll32.exe with those parameters. I'll try to help with that, but I have to brush up my Process Explorer knowledge first. Also, don't delete Process Explorer yet, we'll need it.
`msvcrt.dll` is part of the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime. This command line doesn’t cause any CPU usage whatsoever on my machine. Please provide the working directory of the process in question.
Do you know what the '_sleep' command means? My PC is also doing something funny where it will randomly wake up from sleep. Perhaps this issue is related.
@JonasCz Thanks! I will try formatting it.
Process Explorer gives the 'Current Directory' of the process as C:\Windows\. Not sure if that's what you mean?
Yeah, that’s what I was referring to.
And `--no-unquote` turns out to be needed as well: file names containing backslashes would otherwise be mishandled. (No, this isn't a hypothetical -- I'm really creating a tar archive from someone else's code, containing a filename with backslashes in the name, that's how I found out.)
The _sleep function is used in software to tell the OS that it doesn't have anything to do right now. I don't think your computer's sleep problem is related, but someone might know better.
I changed some files in Remix OS and now I can play all the accelerometer games :) !
@Mokubai it might be worth to mention aacGain as well, it does both MP3 and AAC
I prefer this solution, given that pinentry over -X doesn't show up – I'm normally physically at my laptop, where I want X pinentry (so I don't want to edit a conf file all the time), but if I happen to ssh -X into it I might still want a curses pinentry. Of course, ideally, the gtk pinentry would actually work over ssh -X :-/
I don't think it's officialy supported. It takes It takes a couple of seconds for it to hit the Windows boot logo, there is no BIOS as such.
It does this to manage memory. It unloads tabs you aren't using to free up memory for ones you are using.
@hvd then you should seek them out and give them a good kicking.
@Tetsujin I added about my mac. I got 4 cores and all of them turned on in the settings of parallels.
... and then led to another error, which I guess was quickly fixed thereafter (since this answer is accepted). The other error is that I'm not seeing what file got transferred. (I hadn't realized there was a space between the colon and the slash ; I thought it was just word-wrapping there. That would have caused scp to try to upload the .pem file) If you simply add a period after the colon, then this example could be valid.
"the Same PEM key" did not tell me a key detail I asked for ("what file"?) (the answer is apparently ~/Downloads/NTLLSMON_TEST.pem), but Leith did provide that answer in a comment that he made by another answer.
Have to say I'm surprised, but I don't know how to change it. I see clear utilisation of each core I add to the VM when compiling - however that is not a single-threaded task & I'm running in an OS X VM... so the comparison is limited, sorry.
This is a comment, not an answer, because I'm not (yet) providing details on how to login w/ that MS acct's password. I suspect how this happened: My guess is Microsoft Cortana. I had that software switch my login type, without fully realizing that it would affect the entire Windows 10 login. (I since read that Microsoft made related updates to Win 10.) Then I left the computer idle and the "screensaver" locked my system, requiring the Microsoft login. I fixed the issue by looking up my password. This [password reset](http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=242000) might help.
did not work for me on windows 10
This is one [of the many] reasons you don't give people access to your own account. That's what limited accounts are for, so an inexperienced user can't mess things up. I hope @TOOGAM 's link helps, but I'd also take it as a lesson learned.
@barlop The procedure that you explained is not something new. Many Geeks ;-) are using this method to run their program. By the way, thank you for your help, I found the solution, take a look at the answer I posted below
trust me, I'm well aware that inexperienced users shouldn't have that type of access. She knew her mothers password and wasn't using the account she was supposed to. Her mother is furious so going forward i know this won't be an issue.
Microsoft says that I can't provide enough info to reset account. funny thing is that I can login to Office 365 with the micorsoft login and password and it works just fine. somehow it appears that the password on the computer isn't the same as the one to login to microsoft.
Hey, I know this question is a few months old and this way worked for you, but I am having the same issue and I cannot track down what is causing it from Autorun or by looking by hand. Do you have any suggestions?
is there any way to reboot the computer and by hitting a key or key-combination force it back to local account mode? I'm sure this is something that occurs (like losing access to the MS Account) often and that MS has a recovery option for.
I've never done that before. Can you give me the instructions in my native language? (That is, Highland Stupidese.)
I've been using VirtualBox for quite a while and tried the different settings and never encountered any similar issues.
Nevermind, I figured it out. Thank you, Daniel.
Oh, that's interesting. Just downloaded and installed Debian fresh a few days ago, so they haven't made the switch yet. Firefox isn't in apt yet either. Downloading it from the Mozilla website. Thanks for the pointer!
I'm able to login to O365 with the credentials, but they do not work when trying to login to windows 10. The procedure used in the youtube video seems pretty simple - will it work for O365 accounts as well on the PC?
Same problem on ElCapitan, nothing in logs. Work around seems to be to do Check for Updates in System Prefs. I get this error when the auto update check pops up, but running manually seems to work. The "for systems administrators" installers from here (http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html) also seem to work, but they're killing that page at the end of the month supposedly.
In the past I have tested one of the programs which claimed to do lossless rotation of a JPEG file. Decompressing a version which had been rotated by 90 degrees 4 times produced the same output as decompressing the original. However decompressing a version which had been rotated by 90 degrees only once did not produce the same result as decompressing the original and rotating by 90 degrees. So 90 degree rotation of a JPEG file was not entirely lossless, and the root cause turns out to be certain asymmetries in the JPEG specification itself.
Would you please respond in your answer, which is easier to read than comments?
Michael: Sadly (for your case), I don't think so. If this is anything like prior Windows versions, if you press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and lock the system (which is what I think has effectively been done already), you ought to be able to log into another account on the system. But I think the switch from local account to a corresponding Microsoft account has an effect similar to disabling the local account that made the switch. I doubt you'll be able to use that local account to rectify before you log in successfully. Although, if you have *another* local account to log in with... *(maybe?)*
Please see the update to my post above.
How about JPEG compression? Now if you have to use "compression" to secure data maybe you can e.g. use a secret-key to initialize a known compression algorithm. Theoretically compression will create an entropy (i.e. information density) of 1 and encryption an entropy of 0 bits of information / physical bit. Therefore your compressed file would only be encrypted if all the information is contained in the secret-key and the compressed file becomes 0 bytes long. If not you have stored information in the data that the compressor generates. This shows that compression is not encryption.
yes this has been about my experience...I have been teying to run on vista which hogs up about 1gb just launching...will look into linux distros that may be suitable, but have had some issues in the past with them not liking my hardware...
genuine question, +1
I'm surprised nobody mentioned [Kon-Boot](http://www.piotrbania.com/all/kon-boot/) yet. It's what computer technicians use to access your account when you forget to give them the administrator password. It's not free but it works. You boot into Windows using the Kon-Boot bootable CD/USB and you'll see a new user called kon-boot at the welcome screen with administrative access.
Mint might be a good choice then to ensure compatibility. There is a very big ubuntu / mint user group community also. I have no hardware issues at all. You can check with this list but outside of Nvidia, drivers aren't much of an issue. Definitely the last 3-4 years is not the same as earlier. More of an issue for me with Windows by far honestly. http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/
Windows 7 is my preference for a clean dedicated windows desktop that I can "de-crappify" by taking out the native bloatware. Pardon the french.
Have you tried disabling secure boot from UEFI menu?
Or alternative a serial line, although that comes with all the downsides of a serial conneciton (e.g. no dynamic resizing).
Are you signed in as an admin?
Yes however I want to force asking for password even for admin because I am running teamviewer and I want to make sure that even in case someone would get into control he would need to know admin password
You claim that the method I described that I said might not exist, of "a server program that provides a terminal to the client that connects to it, and then sends the commands onto a terminal on the remote machine" is used by many geeks. No it is not.Do u realise that when u use SSH (which is probably what you mean), it logs in itself. Do u understand i'm not taking about that.I'm talking about one that doesn't log in but that uses a terminal on the already logged in machine. (And under that system you wouldn't have the problem would you 'cos the environment would be as it is on teamviewer)
Have you tried the .reg files available [here?](http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/41136-uac-change-prompt-behavior-administrators-windows.html)
@TOOGAM How can I specify the interface postfix for a host in `~/.ssh/config`?
thanks...been concidering the upgrade but for the price....will likely need to get a new system soon anyways..then I get the joys of uefi....this system has had its biggest trouble in the network card because it has some custom pushbutton toggle that needs software support....and when trying ubuntu I had the os stop launching after about a week on a so called stable version....I think it was 12....but I had like 30gb of programs id downloaded on it for it to dump on me....
I didn't found this site before, but I checked it now and it's working
not sure if I used that exact tool but pretty sure I used one like it from ultimate boot cd did read and write and math tests and came back fine...
Show us print screen from Crystal Disk Info.
Do you mind if I post it as an answer?
Price: I know about 8 operationg systems. Only one that costs money is Windows. Stable: If you are experimenting, BSD is excellent for both stability and security. Compatibility: Once *nix drivers are made, they are made. It's not much of an issue. Microsoft has been know to "expire" features . Can't say much about that Ubuntu bug. I run fedora/RHEL. Ubuntu is a bit more rock&roll. Windows update has shutdown more computers than anything in my experience. I won't get into forced upgrades or "sleep of death".. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/06/03/windows_10_upgrade_satellite_link/
If you run chdsk and it finds errors, then you run it again, the errors in this case were already handled.
It shows everything is fine
Its a couple dollars, you wanted a possible solution, that's your best bet to solve it.
So this Advanced System Care is showing file error how to correct it? It pretends to correct itself but it doesn't . Running 'chkdsk' is useless it detects no errors. Thanks
Actually it is MDP(Mini Dislplay Port) not VGA
UltraNav is a modified Synaptics touchpad driver software for Thinkpads. I don't think installing it even makes sense if you don't have a Thinkpad and how it would be related to this Microsoft mouse.
I am using Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. No VGA involved
Sorry for late. 1. Executing commands with `sudo -s` also throws the same error. And each separated commands runs without errors.
So basically my testing is bad I guess, I will try actually making a query from another computer and see if it works. I am not at home right now though so expect updates :D
What problems/symptoms have you observed that made you think you have excessive Internet bandwidth usage? Maybe you should ask about that. For example, if you have a router that doesn't do Smart Queueing ([CoDel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CoDel) or [PIE](https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-aqm-pie-08), plus [ECN](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explicit_Congestion_Notification)), you may have a [bufferbloat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bufferbloat) problem. In that case, throttling background traffic isn't the best solution; the best solution is to deploy Smart Queueing.
1. How far did you have you come with the installation 2. Could you plz show us your bios/uefi config. for examp. via. screenshot 3. Could you show us a screenshot from your bluescreen
There is no dmp file. The thing hard hangs and isn' about to create one. I did check, dmp files are enabled.
How you add gpedit to Home versions of Windows is well documented there is even a question with an answer that explains in detail how to do it.
Can you use the tab and enter keys to login to your account?
@Spiff: No router. 3G USB modem. Symptoms: Earlier when doing light usage, say a few static web pages and Gmail (standard (JS) view) in browser tabs, download speed shown in dialer used to be 10s to 100s of Kbps - ok. Recently for the same usage it is 2 to 8 Mbps - not ok, since metered connection. Disabled Google Drive client, better a bit, but problem still there.
Ghostscript failed to read the document but this worked like a charm. BTW I did this on Windows using the new linux subsystem, so cool!
Sounds like the drive is dead. It could be a mechanical problem or a PCB problem.
Try running it from command line. It might show what the error is.
We have a large number of near duplicates for this and they all say the same thing: modern computer programs are still not very parallelized and Operating systems are not designed to share task *threads* between machines. Even if they were the time critical nature of gaming would make this utterly painful at best. http://superuser.com/questions/165134 http://superuser.com/questions/226584 http://superuser.com/questions/1047607
My favourite answer would be this one: http://superuser.com/a/226603/19943
**`Shift+Esc`** and open up the browsers' task manager....you can see all the processes running on your browser. Hearing _music/sound_ ...so, possibly you might be able to see a fluctuation in the **_network_** tab in the Task **`Manager`**.
Your understanding of graphics cards is also naïve. Graphics cards offer hundreds to thousands of highly specialised cores that can perform a massive number of tasks in parallel, their benefit in gaming comes from their being able to do them both fast and in sheer quantity. Neither of those qualities can be found in old hardware on a janky slow ethernet link. They can process tens of gigabytes per second to produce the images you see, home ethernet can manage maybe a gigabit, which would be more than 80 times less than your graphics card. Processors are also slower at graphics card tasks.
You quite likely have a lot of songs that are not assigned to albums. Note also that you first image says 630 albums and your second image says 628 albums (top right). There is also a 30GB size difference and 13 days playtime difference between the 2 views. That is a lots of tracks.
@Spiff: Also had done these steps earlier: Started Windows Task Manager, added the I/O (reads/writes) columns to the output, viewed it for some time, saw Google Drive using net a lot, disabled it, things improved some, problem came again later, likewise saw Dropbox client using net a lot, disabled it. Situation intermittently better after those steps. First of all, had uninstalled many net-using apps that were not being used, w/ Revo Uninstaller.
I meant to mention that one in the question.. it's not that feasiible if I don't even know which chrome window it is, to go through every window and then every tab within every window
The steam service is almost certainly going to be the same as every other game streaming service, when they play the game remotely, send you the film of it playing and then let you use your machine as a glorified remote desktop. It is not "cloud processing" so much as "a cloud of remote desktop gaming machines". In all honesty though, if you want to play games by far your easiest option is to sell all those machines and buy a single decent one.
@Rakitić thanks, that might work.. I wonder though if it's backgroudn audio and the audio has fully loaded then maybe not.. i'll have to try it next time it happens. But I see it does work for youtube videos, so it's promising. I can see a fluctuating tab hitting top of the list in network usage from time to time and I can double click it. So that seems to work for youtube videos, at least if they're not fully loaded, don't know if once they're loaded, ditto for plain audio, but certainly promising, i'll have to test it when it next happens
have you done the reboot or not?
@magicandre1981 sure, but the reboot just resets my PC as it was before. Nothing changed.
boot to the recovery options, open cmd and run **DISM /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions /ScratchDir:C:\** Does this revert any pending changes?
run **chkdsk C: /f**
@barlop I might have misunderstood your scenario. yes, ssh need to be logged in and I do it. Your scenario can be implemented also but not using the regular settings of linux kernel due to authorisation problems. but for example in case of embedded systems there are some methods to talk to the firmware without strict authorisations. Anyway, we are here to learn from each other if I or you don't understand sth we can help each other. Don't feel offended :-)
I'm glad to hear that!
option 2 won't reinstall, but will probably solve any corruption in Windows files. It keeps all files, settings and softwares option 3 is a kind-of "reinstall" step but it is a drastic one for when you've tried everything but nothing works.
Pardon my newness, but why are we using 'p' and can you explain what second sed statement is doing?
@kasperd that is quite interesting in that it shows that in rotation the actual encoded image *data* is 100% preserved, otherwise continuing to rotate would never result in the same file, but that there is a subsequent process in the image reconstruction that is sensitive to the data rotation. It's not entirely surprising given the computations involved, but your original compressed data is in fact unharmed by the process and can be recovered. Hence the rotation itself is not loosing any data and is therefore lossless. It is the decoder reacting differently to the rotated data in this case.
`p` means "print". `-n` means "don't print unless told to". `-f-` means "read the script from the standard input".
Maybe you should have a look at: http://serverfault.com/questions/216569/cant-ping-static-ip-from-internal-network-only-from-outside This should simply explain your problem.
How does it know to print? Does it look by default if the first field is same in both files?
This only buys you time, so you'll still want to monitor the connection logs if you want to be certain; unless you can get TeamViewer to ask for a password on a secure desktop, they're only a keylogger further away.
@user3299633: No, a number before `p` stands for the line number.
There are endless possible explanations; malware would be low on my list. Aging hardware (even multiple issues), is a good bet. Test the hard drive. Sometimes retail drivers have problems with OEM hardware (go back to OEM drivers as a test, especially video). The system has minimal resources by today's standards and part of the problem could simply be that it can't handle what you are trying to run on it now. Troubleshooting will require methodical testing to diagnose and rule out possibilities.
@binki: Yes, it does interfere with disk read/write times, but if I recall, they're using a lower priority, so other read-writes should go first in general.
@CoffeeBean See edit for hint.
Your assumption you would have 9 TB is incorrect, since you want parity, your actual storage size is going to be smaller then 9 TB. If you want to be able to withstand drive failures, Storage Spaces, isn't that great of an option In any event 2.75 TB with three 3 TB is the correct size. **If you want 9 TB that would required 12 3TB drives.** ( or 6 6TB) or ( 3 8TB) drives.
Why: Raid 5 Size is 1 x 1/n so a 3 drive RAID would be 1 x 1/3 which is 33% and 9TB * 33% is 2.75TB ( i.e. around 3 TB ). If more then single disk in the RAID fails, then the entire RAID is corrupt, if you want to allow more then a single disk failure you need to use RAID 6
i finally solved: apparently transmission had a problem with the option "use UPnP or NAT-PMP port forwarding from my router" , which automatically fowarded port 51413 on the router. disabling the option and forwarding manually another port worked.
Putting the disk onto a NAS will be really slow, so no. Besides a huge performance impact (except you have a really fast 10 GB network or so), things will be fine
@ThomasWeller Even with Gigabit ethernet and lots of memory on the host systems? Okay I could just as well store them locally and backup to the network location.
That would be my suggestion. We were using a Nutanix server for 25k€, but meanwhile, I'd say I had better bought a second machine for everyone... Well, let's see what answers you get. I'm interested in possible solutions
Wouldn't deactivating the A/V software be enough (so it isn't actively scanning during upgrade), rather than uninstalling it?
This is just a repeat of the other two answers.
I could give a 100% working solution if you give me your router model. I have done this before after an extensive research.
Do you have compositing on? Try to disable it. Found this advice [here](http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?t=19649).
You may also try [the -screen option](http://www.imagemagick.org/script/command-line-options.php#screen).
In my case, the ubuntu image did not came with ssh installed (I would have expected to). So I ran 'apt-get install openssh-server' and was able to connect with 'ssh -p 5679 localhost'. Based on the other comments, I did not put any host or guest IP.
Just to add to your answer there is one more option called [XBOOT](http://www.pendrivelinux.com/xboot-multiboot-iso-usb-creator/), what works the similar way as you described above.
@Ramhound, thanks. I'm obviously confused by Storage Spaces, but I'm quite familiar with how RAID5 works (and single-disk failure is all I'm trying to protect against - not multi-disk failure). But in RAID5 the capacity for n drives of size s is (n-1)*s. Because one drive stores parity, which can be used to reconstruct the data on any one (just 1) failed drive. So if I have 4 x 3 TB drives I should get 9 TB of space (with 3 TB used for parity). If Storage Spaces isn't the thing to protect against HDD failure, what is?
Let us [continue this discussion in chat](http://chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/40759/discussion-between-barlop-and-puya-amiri).
"I need the data inside the drive badly." ..... This ...is... why... you....do... BACKUPS !
Short of hiring a forensic team, you're probably out of luck
Did you make any changes in the outer volume lately? If you are using a hidden volume, be aware that you are not supposed to open and save any more data to the outer volume unless you enable Hidden Volume Protection. Neglecting this will likely corrupt the hidden volume as an intended design feature to protect plausible deniability. See the Truecrypt [user guide](https://www.grc.com/misc/truecrypt/TrueCrypt%20User%20Guide.pdf), page 40.
It's not a hardware problem. It's that I need to remove the impact hardware problems can have on productivity. Regarding 2, the data is highly confidential, so any online solution is not an option. Regarding 4, I already have a Freenas server operating there, the memory is not an issue at all (16 GB for 4 TB of data, easily enough). Windows does not need to be compatible with ZFS either. First because the server supports samba shares and second because the host machine will use the Server, Windows itself will run from an image and does not even need to be aware of the server at all.
UPDATE: My misery carries on in http://superuser.com/questions/1085767/hdderase-exe-not-picking-up-any-drives-to-wipe.
For the sake of completeness, did you try other keys instead of `DEL`, like `F2`, `F10`, `ESC` to access the BIOS? MSIs are normally `DEL` or `F2`
Regarding the rest, thanks for your input. I will think about it. But they pretty much need access all the time and that's the only reason why they cant move away from Windows. And I will dive into your idea with a centralized desktop.
Im sorry. Please check my edit @Jedi
Okay local copies of the virtual disks it is then :)
@Jedi i've often found the processes don't add up, e.g. they add to 4GB when i'm using 14GB
-1 you don't know that, until they open task manager and see svchost using as much RAM as to explain the high ram usage.
You're right, but he has since added an additional image showing the suspected process so this proves my theory.
@Jedi it's also very common that svchost.exe is not using that much, and still lots of RAM is used. My system now for example. http://i.imgur.com/7CYnPye.png and http://i.imgur.com/IAxljO3.png So to assume svchost for any such case of unaccounted RAM, is jumping to a conclusion prematurely.
Saved my bacon... thx :)
Hi Joan - the 'not enough memory' error you receive does not relate to the overall drive size ( 2TB) but rather to the temporary file storage you have available. Try pressing win key + R and then type %temp% followed by enter. This will take you to the temporary folder and once there delete everything acknowledging when you see an note that some files are in use and cannot be deleted.
Not Enough Memory generally shows up when you have too many programs open at once so that all physical memory is being used, and the OS is being forced to continuously swap RAM contents to the disk. Check task manager to see if that is the case.
Hi - are you still able to boot the old Win8 installation..? If yes, then run "firefox -p" to find where the profile is located and you can the reference that location by running the same command under Win10. I suspect you may advertantly have copied the whole %userprofile% across rather than just the FF profile - which by default is created in the %userprofile%
@PVitt : The usual way is to specify a system identifier (such as an IP address), and then tack on a percent sign, and then an interface name, as demonstrated by the answer which tacked on %eth1 to the end of the IPv6 address. eth1 was the interface identifier. If that doesn't work, check the [man page for OpenSSH's file named config](man.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=ssh_config&sektion=5), and if that doesn't help, consider making a new question (on SuperUser) with more precise details so we can help you further.
2460x1440 is typos i correct it. Sure i get drivers from AMD. By the way site ASUS not provide drivers for video.
the reason I spoke about Documents and Settings is because that's where I found FF profile directory. I suspect it was just symlinked from users\
You are going to need to define what "very chunky" means. Is your question somehow related to peanut butter?
Sounds like you are connected to the adsl router, and you are trying to give your openwrt router a name to resolve? If so, then you need to configure the dhcp option and add the hostname on the adsl router, not on the openwrt.
I recommend disabling the Windows Update service entirely. You can then enable it once a week to check for updates. This can take a lot of time (days, even), because Windows Update on 7 is somehow broken.
@bibadia: Seemed like a great idea but it doesn't work, sadly. I also tried fiddling with the options... still nothing. It's as if the format of non-formatted hyperlinks is part of the embedded style but Autoformat doesn't override it. I tried converting to .docx first, then autoformatting and autoformatting without converting. No luck.
@harrymc: Just edited the post with a short example.
Whoa! If you have some MS Access knowledge you could import all the sheets to a DATABASE, rather than manipulating sheets. Working with tables will cut your load after the initial manual build. Although you asked for an Excel solution, the best fit is database. Then queries are easy to get data on all data available. In database management you could set Primary Keys for nonduplicate data. If you're unfamiliar with Access DB and queries, it's worth the effort to invest time to learn. That's how I first started; feeling the limits of Excel. Creating forms on databases would be next.
To 1: the Add Text tool creates actually text in the imaging level, and not annotations; that text will disappear. To 2: The assumption was that the text did not change. Annotations are indeed placed at fixed coordinates, and do not have any tight connection with the associated text.
The first answer you'll get here is, "This isn't a script writing service". You'll have to provide evidence that you've learned VB code writing skills and then ask for help on errors in your project. Start by recording a Macro, then manipulating that macro manually if you're not sure where to start. Creating Macros, via record, is a good way to learn syntax.
@Peter.O That just blew my mind. Could you please explain this bit: `'$(($1+1))'` ??
> Why is it telling me not enough memory? It probably is telling you not enough memory because it has not enough memory. That is quite different from not enough storage. Memory is RAM (main memory DRAM, RAM on graphics cards, virtual memory space, ...). Storage is space on the disk. While you can run out of diskspace and thus out of space for a paging file, the error 'not enough memory' usually has nothing to do whatsoever with the disk.
I know what you mean. I'd start researching pop-up windows. Maybe create an html file and call it as a popup? I'm thinking there will be some Javascript involved; probably a few lines of code to it.
i am wiling to learn and achieve more knowledge in excel and if that will involve learning VB code okay but the last sentence of your comment is pure extraterrestrial to me. do i have to download a specific software?
