HP LaserJet 4L wird bei Verwendung von HPLIP unter Ubuntu 32 Bit nicht erkannt

Ich kann meinen Laserjet 4L nicht mit hp-setup auf Ubuntu 10.04 32 Bit installieren.

Ich habe alle Voraussetzungen von http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/ubuntu.html installiert und das Paket 'hplip' neu installiert und überprüft, dass der Treiber 'ppdev' geladen ist und in meinem BIOS installiert ist Die parallele Schnittstelle ist auf ECP eingestellt (eigentlich EPP + ECP, aber es ist die einzige Option mit ECP), aber ich kann nicht, dass HP-Setup oder HP-Probe meinen Drucker erkennt.

IIRC tut es ja. Ich glaube tatsächlich, dass mit dem verwendeten Kabel etwas nicht stimmt, aber ich hatte keine Zeit, das zu testen. Ich wollte hplip verwenden, um es über das Netzwerk freizugeben, und die anderen Maschinen würden automatisch die entsprechenden Treiber über Samba oder was auch immer unter OS X heruntergeladen werden.
