Wir machen viel Etikettendruck bei meiner Arbeit, alle mit Thermotransfer-Etikettendruck. Das Band ist mühsam, und ich bin überzeugt, dass die Verwendung direkter Thermo-Etiketten ein Gewinn für Sie wäre, was Bequemlichkeit und Kosteneinsparungen mit sich bringt. Ich habe jedoch Probleme, meinen Chef davon zu überzeugen. Liege ich falsch?

Nur um zu klären, bin ich mehr mit den Kosten beschäftigt. Werden wir Geld sparen, wenn wir diesen Weg gehen? Wir drucken jeden Tag Tausende von Etiketten. Unsere Drucker können sowohl drucken als auch, und jeder Stil sollte für unsere Zwecke ausreichend sein.

I've found printing with direct thermal is fine for in-house projects. They do last a long time and barcodes are still scannable after years of storage. They do burn in direct sunlight and they do loose contrast over time, though. So after a year they won't look as pretty as thermal transfer. If you're making labels that customers are going to look at thermal transfer is cleaner.

To help decide whether to select a direct thermal printer or thermal transfer printer (or whether you should use thermal transfer or direct thermal labels), consider the following questions:

  • Will you ever need to print labels in colors other than black?
  • Do the labels need to be scanned or have a shelf-life of over 1 year?
  • Will you be printing high density bar codes (i.e. limited space)?
  • Will the labels be subjected to heat or sunlight?
  • Will you be printing on a variety of different substrates (i.e. papers, films and foils)?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions then you should consider going thermal transfer rather then direct thermal.
